Looking for a party holiday this year? Bored with the likes of Magaluf, Ibiza and Ayia Napa? Want something a little upmarket? Then look no further, we have just what you’ve been waiting for. A holiday to the Caribbean may not be the first place which springs to mind when you think of nightclubs and cocktails, but you may be surprised. In fact, this hotspot is becoming more and more popular for its nightlife scene from the celebrity hangouts of Barbados to the drinking holes of Jamaica. Now, feast your eyes over the Caribbean’s top party islands. You won’t regret it!
Barbados – Bridgetown
As a firm favourite with a host of celebrities from Simon Cowell, the Beckhams, and not forgetting the birth place of superstar, Rihanna, there’s no wonder we all want in on the Barbados action. So, what better place to party like a star than this strictly VIP island? For the full celebrity experience, stop by Priva Barbados located in the famous resort of Bridgetown. This award-winning nightspot is one of Barbados’ most sought-after locations. Its escape-from-reality setting offers, a bottle service, a lounge area, international DJs, and not to mention a guest list filled with A-listers.
Alternatively, there’s Harbour Lights Beach Parties if you prefer something more low-key. Located on Carlisle Bay Beach, this bar will get your feet moving and your body swaying with its reggae and dance beats. Limbo dancing, fire breathers, live bands and acrobats make this beachfront party one of the best in the whole of Bridgetown.
Dominican Republic – Puerto Plata
As we head over to the Dominican Republic we recommend the resort of Puerto Plata. Cancun is no longer the only resort which draws in its fair share of spring breakers. That’s right, Puerto Plata will give Cancun a run for its money with its student-filled seas.
Puerto Plata’s warm climate, lively beaches and selection of clubs in and around the resort will leave you wondering why this is your first time visiting. Hop on a bus and take a short 15-minute ride to the small town of Cabarete where you’ll find Cabarete Beach Bash. Here, amongst the sand, sits a club with its very own outdoor pool overlooking the beach, so as I’m sure you can imagine things can get pretty wild. However, if you don’t want to venture to far from your hotel try popular nightlife spots such as Coco Bongo and Senor Rocks. Don’t miss this new spring break destination off your travel hit list for 2015.
Jamaica – Negril
We’ve all got our expectations of what a Jamaican party would be like, right? Let me guess, it involves relaxed beach bars, non-stop reggae music and plenty of rum-laced cocktails. Well, you’re not far wrong. Head over to Ricks Café, one of the islands most famous drinking meets diving spots, and experience a cliffside party like no other. This magical café is most celebrated for its skilled and amateur jumpers who leap from the café’s rock face each night as onlookers watch in amazement. Now, get ready to witness a truly spectacular sunset as you sit amongst the rocks looking down at the rippling ocean. This sums up the islands world-wide appeal, making it one of the best Caribbean resorts for its legendary parties.
Looking for something different? Then wander along Negril’s famous seven-mile stretch of sand and drop in Margaritaville. Foam parties, big-screens, trampolines in the sea and hammocks all offer a fun-filled vibe which you won’t find anywhere else on the island.
Mexico – Playa del Carmen
Playa del Carmen, although not as wild as Cancun, has kept its traditional Mexican spirit. This resort isn’t all about superclubs and gigantic pitchers. Here you’ll come across the finest tequila, low-slung fairy lights and intimate surroundings that you could only find in Mexico. Put on your best dress because its time to wander down Fifth Avenue where there are dozens of drinking spots to try.
We suggest you stop at Alux. Located in a cave with carved rock seats, this is an extremely unique setting. Besides, having played host to international DJs, concerts, theatre groups and incredible parties there’s always something to keep you entertained. But if you’re worried about a lack of clubs, don’t. There is also a list of nightclubs to choose from such as Brahma, which has capacity of 1,200 and Coco Bongo. Yes, Playa del Carmen has its very own, and we love it!
Cuba – Havana
One thing is for sure Cuban’s know how to party which means clubs and bars tend to stay open until the last person leaves. Get ready to feel the rhythm because this city has a great emphasis on dancing and you can’t escape its passionate dance style, Salsa. Besides, you can’t set foot on Cuba’s soil without visiting the famous Cabaret, Club Tropicana.
As one of the oldest hotspots in Cuba you can expect hints of nostalgia in the clubs every crevice. A garden setting, half-dressed señoritas, a sea of sequins, a live orchestra and Havana Club rum still entice tourists from all over the world. Is the evening still young? Looking for an after-party? Then head towards Malecón waterfront and enjoy a final beer beside the sea while you listen to a mixture of calm ocean waves and instrumental Cuban music.
Which Caribbean party will you be attending?
