A party guide to Lanzarote

A selection across the island

Depending on where you visit, you can find nightclubs in caves, all-night beach parties and strips of bars and clubs to keep you satisfied for your entire holiday.

Bars fill up with party-goers towards the late hours of the evening and close when the clubs open their doors around midnight. And Lanzarote parties often don’t end until you start to see the sun coming up in the morning as closing hours are usually decided by when the customers want to stop drinking and dancing.

The eternally-warm climate of Lanzarote means that bars down by the beach are a favourite for tourists. Both organised and spontaneous parties also kick off around Carnival time in February and March when dancing in the street is the norm to round off a time of religious celebrations and processions.

Busy Puerto del Carmen in the east

The best place in Lanzarote to get in the party mood, is without a doubt Puerto del Carmen, with countless bars and clubs in the Centro Atlantico and on the main strip, Avenida de las Playas. The old town area near the harbour also welcomes visitors and locals in for a drink and a bite to eat.

Avenida de las Playas leads between Puerto del Carmen and Los Pocillos beach along the scenic beachfront. It houses countless venues as varied as Tequila Bar, Mulligans Irish pub and Tropical disco, which is open until late. If you’re feeling lucky, you can start your night at Gran Casino de Lanzarote before finding somewhere to dance until morning.

Southern party towns

At the southern tip of the island, the nightlife of upmarket Playa Blanca is centred around the stylish Marina Rubicon, complete with sophisticated wine bars and fine-dining bistros.

Some bars and restaurants are quite exclusive and have a dress code but you’ll also find more low key venues with good drinks deals.

Straight from Ibiza to Lanzorote, Playa Blanca has its very own Cafe Del Mar chillout bar. Playing funky house and serving delicious seafood and other food, its white furniture spills out towards the yacht-speckled marina.

But it’s not all sipping cocktails quietly here as Jungle Bar ramps up the toe-tapping tunes with live rock music on the edge of Playa Dorada Beach.

Traditional northern nights

Further north, the nightlife is catered more towards families and anyone looking to spend their evenings dining in style. One exception though is the caves of Jameos del Agua, which become a literally underground disco every week full of traditional music and beautifully cooked food.
