Take it slow and relax in style
The Neapolitan Riviera, also known as the Amalfi Coast, is the ideal location for easy-paced beach holidays surrounded by breathtaking views, as well as romantic retreats for couples. The coastline here has some of the most stunning scenery in Italy and some say even the world. You’ll find rugged cliffs, picturesque towns and villages nestled on forested mountain slopes, charming little fishing ports and idyllic offshore islands.
The region also has centuries of fascinating history and nearby is the famous archaeological site at Pompeii. Amalfi Coast holidays let you explore ancient castles and opulent villas, enjoy exotic sub-tropical terraced gardens and admire the stunning architecture of spectacular churches.

Choose your perfect beach spot with fantastic sea views
As well as longer stretches of beach you’ll also find small secluded coves where you can pick out your own little spot to unwind and enjoy the tranquillity on your holidays to Italy. One fantastic example is Furore Beach which lies halfway between Amalfi and Positano, with calm, shallow waters for families and little ones to paddle in. This tiny beach lies nestled at the bottom of a steep gorge in the cliffs, one of the few fjords in Italy, giving it a rather special, castaway feel.
Explore the pretty towns and islands of the Neapolitan Riviera region
The seaside resorts, clifftop towns and islands in the Neapolitan Riviera all have their own unique charm. Many are connected with regular bus routes, or are just a short drive or ferry ride away from each other, which makes it easy for you to explore this incredibly beautiful region.
The town of Amalfi is perched dramatically on the coast where the whitewashed buildings seem to cling to the cliff face. You can get breathtaking views here of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. Just along the coast from here is the pretty town of Positano, and off the coast is the volcanic island of Ischia, which offers therapeutic hot springs and a majestic castle.
Ravello sits higher up in the mountains and has an enchanting, romantic feel. This small town is renowned for its spectacular gardens and magnificent historic villas. Then there’s Sorrento, high on the cliffs overlooking the Bay of Naples and the glamorous island of Capri. This rather exclusive seaside resort has attracted several holidaying celebrities including the famous opera singer Luciano Pavarotti.
Discover delicious Neapolitan cuisine and enjoy the nightlife
The Neapolitan Riviera offers delicious Italian cuisine featuring fresh fish, prawns and mussels plus a wide range of speciality pastas. You’ll also find authentic Italian pizzas, of course. Italians love sweet treats and desserts, so you’ll be able to enjoy options such as tiramisu, creamy gelato with pistachios and tasty almond biscotti to go with your espressos. You’ll also be able to sample excellent local wines, many of which have been produced from grapes grown in the countryside just inland.
Evenings in the Neapolitan Riviera can be spent enjoying the relaxed atmosphere in the many restaurants and friendly bars of the region. In the bigger resorts of Amalfi and Sorrento the pace is livelier, and there’s a wider selection of places to eat, drink and stay up late into the night.
Make the most of the fantastic shopping choices
There are lots of opportunities in each of the Neapolitan Riviera’s resorts to browse for beautiful hand-painted ceramics such as bowls, jugs and tiles and buy fresh produce like fruit at local markets. You’ll also find plenty of places to buy the most stylish of Italian fashions and accessories as well as designer shoes and jewellery, especially in glamorous Sorrento.
Take a day trip to Naples and walk around Pompeii
The bustling city of Naples is around 90 minutes drive away from Neapolitan Riviera resorts and is an excellent destination for a day trip.
As well as having numerous museums, shops and restaurants, the Naples area is where you’ll find the famous archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Both were destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. However, these sites are fascinating for the levels of detail that have since been unearthed and the number of personal items and relics that have been found.
