If you’re a stickler for a wonderful skyline view then the mountains of Ras Al Khaimah are where you should be headed. The Hajar mountains create the perfect day trip and stretch over 700 kilometres through UAE and Oman. You’ll want to tick off the Jebel Jais mountain range where the highest peak sits at 1,934 metres above sea level in Ras Al Khaimah. You can capture some outstanding pictures of the orange coloured rocks, steeping hills and all round magnificent views. 

If heights is what gets your blood pumping then you’ll be happy to know Ras Al Khaimah is home to the world’s longest zipline, soaring 1,680 metres above sea level and you’ll land on a platform on top of the Jebel Jais mountain. If it isn’t already on your bucket list, it should be!

If your idea of adventure is more learning about culture and history then head straight to the National Museum of Ras Al Khaimah. The Golden Sands of Ras Al Khaimah

One of the first things that comes to mind when you imagine the UAE is most likely the deserts and golden sands, and you wouldn’t be wrong. Ras Al Khaimah is home to plenty of stunning, golden beaches with a long coastline beaming with luxurious hotels, cafes, and restaurants. You’ll often find various water sports along the beaches too so you can take a dip and cool off. Most of the resorts along the coast line offer their own private beach but non-guests are usually allowed to benefit from those facilities. 

The deserts of course are another place full of adventure. From camel riding to quad biking and even dinners under the stars, venturing the deserts is a must when in Ras Al Khaimah. The desert is a great place to catch the magnificent Arabian sunset – the perfect backdrop to a romantic trip.

Ras Al Khaimah can reach over 40 degrees in June, July and August so it is important to stay hydrated, use sufficient suncream, and try to avoid being outside during the hottest parts of the day. If you want cooler temperatures, December to April is the coolest months with temperatures in the late twenties.

Ras Al Khaimah Cuisine

The cuisine in Ras Al Khaimah is a mix of meat, fish, vegetables and eccentric spices. Your holiday won’t be complete unless you’ve tasted a few of Ras Al Khaimah’s traditional dishes. Start off with something simple, Mandi is a traditional Arabic dish with lamb or chicken mixed with rice and spices. Or for a cold dish on a hot day try Tabbouleh, a salad with various herbs and tomatoes, bulgar and onion dressed with olive oil and lemon juice.
