Agios Fokas Holidays 2025/2026

Kos Island’s Agios Fokas is a little different to what you might expect from Greece. The sand on its magnificent beach is black – not white or golden – and it feels a little more cosmopolitan than other small villages around, due to its proximity to Kos Town itself. So if you’re looking for something out of the ordinary but with that gorgeous Greek charm the country is famous for, Agios Fokas might be the perfect place.

Join in the Hippocrates Festival

In July and August Kos celebrates the Hippocrates Festival. Known as the father of modern medicine, the man himself lived and worked – both in medical practice and teaching others – in Kos Town. Being so famous, Hippocrates has his own festival which lasts for 10 weeks over the summer. There are numerous cultural events including exhibitions, concerts, films, and music.

Relax in thermal springs

The hot springs at Therma Beach are wonderful, and the ideal way to relax. It’s only five minutes away from the main beach itself, and you can bathe in naturally hot springs.

Take in some historical sites

Kos Town is a fabulous place to visit for the day (or longer – you can easily go back a number of times while you’re staying in Agios Fokas and you’ll always see something different). Kos Town is especially interesting for those with a penchant for history and architecture. This is, for example, where the Castle of the Knights can be found – a 15th-century building – and where you can see both Hellenistic and Roman ruins (including the shrine of Aphrodite that dates to the fifth century).

Explore traditional Greece

Thirty minutes away from Agios Fokas are a number of traditional, tranquil Grecian villages. They are exactly as you would imagine them to be, untouched by the passage of time. Exploring these villages is a fun, and since there are lots of wonderful tavernas, cafes, bars, and restaurants dotted around, you’ll never go hungry or thirsty on your special adventure.
