Arenal has earned itself a reputation as a nightlife hotspot, making it popular with 18 to 30s, but you don’t have to be a party animal to enjoy it. It’s packed with bustling beaches, thrilling watersports, plus a waterpark making Arenal one of Majorca’s most popular destinations for those who enjoy an active holiday.

Glide across the waves
Arenal’s coast extends for six kilometres, spanning across Arenal, C’an Pastilla and Playa de Palma. The beach here is hugely popular – visitors on package holidays to Majorca flock to these shores to lay out on the sand or stroll along the coastal promenade. Thatched huts that house snack shops, bars and toilets dot the waterfront, which means afternoons here are also incredibly convenient.
Out on the water, adventurers go wild with the fantastic range of watersports. Whether you’re looking to try something new or are well-versed in the art of adrenaline-pumping activities, you can go kite surfing, scuba diving and jet skiing, or just relax on a boat cruise touring the scenic coast.
Happier hours
The biggest draw to Arenal is undeniably its wild nightlife. Visitors come from all over for the cool drinks, buzzing atmosphere and dancing until sunrise. There’s a wide range of after-hours spots, from laid back pubs to cool cocktail lounges, to raucous, neon-lit clubs.
Arenal is popular with German tourists, having been described as Magaluf‘s German equivalent – which is reflected in many bars and clubs. One of the most highly-touted clubs is MegaPark, which essentially is a massive beer tent where guests dance until the early hours. Not only does it have a Happy Hour, but a daily half-hour in which the beer is free – ideal for your cheap holiday to Majorca!
For a more relaxed atmosphere, there are great local places like the Bahia Bar and Bierexpress where you can settle into a booth with a cold drink and listen to music.
Make a splash
If you’re able to pry yourself away from the beach, Arenal is home to some great theme parks. In fact, Aqualand El Arenal is the largest waterpark in Majorca, where you’ll be treated to twisting and turning inner tube slides, tall body slides, a kid-friendly splash park and a raft river. It’s open from May through to September.
On the other side of the bay, only a 30-minute drive away, is Marineland. This aquatic life zoo gives visitors an up-close and personal look at sharks, penguins, dolphins and sea lions through exhibitions and live shows. You might even get a chance to feed some of these creatures yourself.
Worldly bites
You won’t find yourself lacking in choice when dining in this part of Majorca – there’s restaurant representation from all corners of the world, with cuisines like Tex-Mex, Italian, Moroccan, Greek, American and, of course, Spanish.
Eateries like the double-decker Pizzeria del Sol do everything in between, with a menu that features items such as fruity cocktails, sushi, pizza and tapas, to name a few options.
Arenal’s coastal location means you’ll be treated to a great range of fresh seafood from tapas-sized portions to whole lobsters. And if you find yourself longing for a little taste of England, back-home pubs like the Liverpool Bar will satisfy your cravings with a full English breakfast and a football match on TV.
Even with All Inclusive holidays to Majorca waiting to supply you with an array of delicious cuisine, it’s well worth stepping out and exploring the local area in search of classic Majorcan fare.
Shop 'til you drop
Arenal is home to a collection of souvenir shops that are fantastic for bringing home an authentic piece of Majorca, plus supermarkets and pharmacies. Every Thursday there’s a street market held by locals selling authentic, handmade wares like arts and crafts.
Nearby C’an Pastilla has a wider range of shops, though nothing compares to the capital city of Palma. In the shadow of the famous cathedral, you’ll find shopping centres with upscale boutiques, plus local department stores lining chic avenues.
