Arenal Den Castell Holidays 2024/2025
Arenal d’en Castell has a picturesque horseshoe beach lined with rugged cliffsides and greenery, and dotted with whitewashed houses. It’s one of the most popular resorts for Menorca holidays, but there’s plenty of room for everyone on this long, sweeping coastline.

Beachside relaxation
The town doesn’t suit just one type of holiday-goer – waterfront cafes with stunning bay views make for an especially romantic escape, while waterparks and go-kart tracks keep the little ones up and running. There’s even a modest nightlife scene for some after-hours fun.
But most of all, it’s all about beach-side sunloungers ideal for getting your relaxation on, with the soundtrack of waves crashing nearby.
Bays for days
The beach at Arenal d’en Castell is the town’s main fixture. It’s Blue Flag award-winning, so you know it’s clean and safe, if the pristine sand and turquoise waters didn’t already give it away. Lined with sunloungers, pedalos are available too, so you can enjoy the beach and sea at a leisurely pace.
A convenient wooden walkway lining the beach will connect you to the bars and restaurants behind the waterfront. On the eastern side are a handful of places to grab a snack, quick drink or an ice-cream, while full-service restaurants aren’t far off on the western side, making it easy to please everyone on family holidays to Menorca here.
Fun in the sun
Aside from lounging on the beach, there are an incredible number of ways to enjoy Menorca’s gorgeous climate in Arenal d’en Castell. But you won’t have to go far – you can rent jet skis that’ll get you out on the waves at heart-racing speeds or kayaks for more leisurely cruises.
The Coves Noves commercial centre is a hotspot for family-friendly activities. At its play park, you can whip around the go-kart track or, if you’re travelling with children, unleash them on the children’s play area. Coves Noves also has its own diving school, so amateur underwater enthusiasts can get suited up and explore Arenal d’en Castell’s warm, clear waters in full scuba diving gear.
The Goody Goody Park combines outdoor fun with go-karts, trampolines and sunloungers beside thatched umbrellas, with a restaurant and bar overlooking the bay. There’s also the waterpark Splashtastic, which is connected to the Marina Parc hotel. It comes complete with a kids’ splash area, water slides and a raft river, plus a large wave pool.
Hiking and biking
Arenal d’en Castell’s naturally humid climate keeps the forests lining the craggy cliff faces nice and green all year-round. But Menorca is known as the ‘windy island’, so you won’t find that humidity too bothersome as you’re lounging along the beach. Bike rental shops make enjoying this town even easier, as you can wind along the waterfront and explore the picturesque coastline on two wheels.
Only a 10-minute walk down the coast, you’ll come across the quiet locals’ beach Na Macaret. Its calm waters are lined by a small, exclusive beach and whitewashed buildings, bringing that element of insider-knowledge to your holiday.
Coastal chiringuitos
The restaurants in this part of the island vary from familiar favourites like British, Chinese and Italian eats to classic Spanish and other Mediterranean cuisine. There are a collection of chiringuitos – modest beachside cafe-bars – along the coast, as well as other notable eateries like La Biosfera just behind the beach, and the Good Bridge Cafe, whose bay views are unrivalled.
Arenal d’en Castell’s nightlife scene is vibrant, but by no means rowdy when compared to other islands in the Balearics. Instead of music past midnight and neon-lit clubs, you’ll find an Australian outback-themed bar, waterfront cocktail spots with live entertainment and many other relaxing options.
All aboard the Tourist Train
The Tourist Train is a fun way to get around this part of the island, and pocket-friendly if you’re planning cheap holidays to Menorca here. It departs from the Aquamarina, Marina Parc and the Castell Playa hotels, taking you to the nearby fishing village of Na Macaret. Here you can taste fresh seafood and wander through the quiet streets.
Arenal d’en Castell is also close to the only golf course on the island, the 18-hole Son Parc. A 20-minute drive will get you to Es Mercadel, which is the starting point for walks to Menorca’s highest point, Monte Toro. It’s a stunning spot for strolls beside whitewashed buildings where you can grab a snack or pastry for a taste of the island’s culinary delights.
