Ermones Holidays 2024/2025

Located on the west coast of Corfu, Ermones is little more than a chilled-out beach, sheltered in a cove from the rest of the island. Visitors on holidays to Corfu here like to keep it their own little secret, enjoying spectacular sunsets surrounded by dramatic scenery. Behind the olive tree-fringed beach are a handful of amenities, including watersports hire, shops, friendly tavernas and local transport information.

An award-winning beach or two

Ermones boasts the Blue Flag award for its striking sands. With clean shores and clear waters even in high season, the beach is safe and family-friendly. Shallow waters make paddling splash-tastic, while olive groves offer shade against the hot sun. The golden shingle beach is 300 metres long, and it’s quite quiet, so there’s plenty of room to catch some rays.

If you’re looking for a change of scenery, Glyfada beach is just three kilometres south of Ermones. Another Blue Flag winner, Glyfada is top of the list for watersports, and there are a number of lovely cafes lining the sands which make it a lovely place to grab lunch.

Both beaches sit on the west of the island, and when evening falls there’s no better place to catch the famous Corfu sunset. Staying in Ermones you’ve got front row seats every night.

A country stroll

Corfu has a massive network of country paths, which together cover most of the island. A whopping 220 kilometres of trails wind between traditional villages, busy resorts and secret beaches. The Corfu Trail can be negotiated on foot, by bicycle or even on horseback. Corfu’s varied terrain means that walkers are never in the same landscape for more than an hour. You’ll go from mountaintop to waterside in no time at all, meaning there’s no better way to see the island.

Walking the trails isn’t all about scenery and wildlife, there are plenty of opportunities to experience the rich history of Corfu too. You’ll pass a number of traditional Corfiot villages, complete with photogenic climbing flowers, sun-bleached walls and friendly smiles from the locals.

Stop by one of their tourist-free bars for a coffee or a beer, and you can ask about the area’s culture. If you journey far enough on your Corfu holidays you’ll pass Taxiarchis Chapel and its impressive frescos, or the ruined Monastery of Arkoudillas which is truly a sight to behold.

A city full of opportunity

Corfu Town – the capital of the island – is 20 minutes away by car or bus. This means that even in your private retreat of Ermones, you’re never too far from the action. This magnificent city is ideal for photos, shopping, eating and even romance.

The winding streets of the Old Corfu Town district are filled with market traders looking to sell hand-crafted Greek products and, between these, jolly taverna owners beckon you in to try the best national specialities. Above the city sits The Old Fortress, a historical structure which protected the town against three Ottoman sieges.

Corfu Town is also your best bet for nightlife. Taxis run most of the night and if you let a driver know you’re planning on returning late they’ll usually make arrangements so you’re not waiting for a car when you get out of the bar.

There are hundreds of great restaurants, serving both local and international cuisine in Corfu Town. So you can eat and then afterwards take your pick of bars, each playing their own favourite music – from live jazz, to chart DJs.

Alternatively, if you’re after a quiet night with a loved one, take a stroll down to the marina and enjoy the soft lights and cool breeze from the Ionian Sea.
