Ibiza Town is the gem in the island’s crown, with legendary nightlife that brings visitors from all over, plus a history and culture that permeates every scenic street. It doesn’t have its own beach, but you’ll be too preoccupied with sightseeing, shopping, and wining and dining to notice. By day, stroll through the fortified walls of the Dalt Vila old town or along the marina. By night, sleepy Ibiza Town comes alive, so switch your walking shoes for dancing shoes and experience some of Europe’s best clubs.

Dalt Vila
Dalt Vila literally translates to ‘upper town’, and if you’ve ever seen a photograph of Ibiza Town from afar, you’ll know why. The Dalt Vila is essentially built into and on top of a hillside, and in order to experience it, you have to be ready for a bit of a climb. But trust us when we say this UNESCO World Heritage Site is absolutely worth it.
Cross along the famous drawbridge above the Portal de Ses Taules and you’ll be instantly transported back to the time of Ibiza’s Roman occupation. The narrow, cobbled lanes, ancient Roman structures and beautiful courtyards are brimming with history.
There are countless restaurants, art galleries and craft stalls manned by talented locals to grab your attention. Up at the top is the Castle of Ibiza, where you’ll be treated to stunning views of the island.
Just remember to keep your eyes peeled when exploring these beautiful avenues as walks here are no ordinary stroll. There are hidden details and slices of history on every corner, as well as lots of lizards who call the sun-baked walls home.
Nightlife for the ages
People come to Ibiza Town from far and wide just for the nightlife. It’s safe to say the clubs and bars are this city’s trademark. Come nightfall, the streets themselves become spectacles, with historic structures lit up and street dancers, stilt walkers and other costumed performers filling the port area.
The most legendary of Ibiza Town’s nightclubs is Pacha – a five-roomed favourite among energetic party-goers. But there are plenty of more laid-back options around town, and everything in between. Regardless of your after-hours preferences, you won’t be going to bed before midnight.
Days at the beach
Ibiza Town doesn’t have its own beach – it has opted for an attractive marina instead – but as with any town on the island, you’re never far from the shore. When choosing cheap Ibiza holidays, this popular choice ensures you are still close to a beach as well as the nightlife. The closest beach is that of Figueretas, a suburb of Ibiza Town that can be reached via a 15-minute walk. It’s a small stretch of sand lined with palm trees and sun loungers, with restaurants and bars behind. For a more secluded spot, there’s Cala d’en Serra, a sandy cove with a little beach bar, that’s tucked away amid rocky cliffs laced with greenery.
There’s no sand in Ibiza Town, but plenty of water, so you can still get involved with a number of water-sporting activities when visiting. There are boat cruises – some boozier than others – plus scuba diving centres to show you the ropes at exploring the underwater coastline. Or you could hire snorkelling gear, so you can go at your own speed.
Palate-friendly
There are hundreds and hundreds of dining options on Ibiza holidays, especially in Ibiza Town. Whether you’re up for a luxury, five-course meal or just looking for some simple, but fresh, takeaway, you’ll never go hungry here. You’ll find restaurants in all parts of town, from the clubbing spots to the marina and up into the Dalt Vila.
Ibiza Town is home to a vast range of cuisines, from tiny tapas joints to gourmet Italian and Indian. You can enjoy a cocktail at a ritzy beach club or have local, home-cooked food from an outdoor terrace overlooking the sea.
High-end boutiques to craft stalls
There are no shortage of shopping opportunities in the capital. Clothing steals the show of Ibiza Town’s fashion scene, with a great selection from well-known brands to vintage clothing shops. The streets are also laden with craft stalls, where you can pick up something local to remember your holiday by.
If you find yourself up and about on a Saturday morning, there’s a great market in Sant Jordi that’s fun even if you’re just browsing. Ibiza also plays host to hippy markets, including one in nearby Es Cana, which runs every Wednesday and boasts great handmade jewellery, crafts and leather goods.
