Test some tasty tipples
Llucmajor is home to some of the Romans’ first vineyards, and now it creates some of the world’s most sought-after wines.
No holidays to Llucmajor are complete without a vineyard tour. Bodegas Bordoy is a traditional winery that was set up in 2000. Why not book a tour of its grounds and follow up with a little treat, wine-tasting?
Likewise, the newer Bodegas Vi Rei offers extensive tours and fun tasting sessions. Wine from here is utterly unique, so it’s definitely worth booking in for a tour.

Plaça d’Espanya is the place to party
It’s easy to settle into the local way of life while on holidays to Llucmajor Majorca. Start off by visiting the Plaça d’Espanya and try the pastries and coffees from the green-shuttered cafes that surround it. Take a ramble down the streets, which wind away from the main square, and discover the Sant Miquel Church.
Though Llucmajor isn’t a major city, it still has lots of fiestas to experience. The Fiesta of Saint Candida is one of the town’s best, with its open-air concerts and traditional folk dances. There’s also a market every Friday, where you can browse through stalls of antiques, the town’s iconic cobbled shoes and plenty of vintage clothes.
Shoemaking is still a major industry in the town, and as you walk down the streets you’ll notice a statue dedicated to its cobblers.
The most beautiful beach in Majorca
Llucmajor may be set slightly inland, but it’s not far from two lovely beaches, Cala Pi and S’Arenal. S’Arenal is the closest beach to the town, but Cala Pi is by far the prettiest – many say it’s the most beautiful beach in Majorca.
It’s a tiny cove, marked by a pirate watchtower. The vivid turquoise waters gently lap at the soft white sands – though you need to climb down 147 steps to get there first. Once you arrive, reward yourself with a cool drink from the beach-side bar.
Cala Pi is a 30-minute drive, while S’Arenal – and the busy resort of Playa de Palma – are 15 minutes away. All are accessible by bus or car too.
Enjoy different outdoor activities
The countryside around Llucmajor is heaven for those who love to be outside. A web of hiking and cycling routes weave their way around the pretty landscape and you could be walking through the scented almond groves one minute, and the next be hiking up the Puig de Randa Mountain, taking in its panoramic views.
Cycling is popular too, and you can hire bikes from the nearby resort of S’Arenal. There are lots of well-marked paths to take. However, the best way to see the countryside is from horseback if you really want to get close to nature.
Golf is another popular pastime, and there are a couple of courses close to Llucmajor. Golf Majoris is an 18-hole championship course that’s just a short drive away.
Holidays to Llucmajor encapsulate everything that visitors love about Majorca – the brilliant food, the gorgeous countryside, the peaceful beaches and the variety of activities.
You can stay in this rustic town and only be a 30-minute drive from the capital, Palma. The hills of Randa provide a glorious backdrop against the historical sites and vivid-green countryside – and provide a bountiful amount of hiking and cycling paths. Come the evening, when you’ve finished walking or sunbathing, you can sit down to share a meal with the locals. All in all, Llucmajor is a hidden jewel in Majorca’s crown.
