If you want to go further than you can on foot, then rent a bicycle from Nissaki or another of the neighbouring resorts. These are more often than not very cheap and can be returned at your leisure once you’ve finished with them. Alternatively, there are some locations like Corfu Town that have horse riding facilities, so you can explore the island on the back of a trusty steed.
Day trips to Corfu Town
Nissaki is well connected by public transport, meaning that regular buses run to and from nearby resorts and bustling Corfu Town. If you’re planning cheap holidays to Corfu here, note that reaching the further sides of the island does require a change in the capital, but you can always include some time seeing the city.
Once in Corfu Town it’s just a matter of what to do first. Top of your list ought to be the Old Fortress which stands as a firm reminder of the rich Venetian culture that was once the identity of the island. This fort withstood three sieges from the Ottoman Empire, and is open to the public for people to learn about what it really meant to defend the city from such an attack multiple times.
In the stylish commercial district you’ll find boutique fashion stores and jewellers, selling high-end clothing and accessories for you to take home. If you want to try your hand at bartering then the Old Town is brimming with market stalls with traders who love a good haggling match with tourists. Agni Bay is a favourite among those with their own boats, as its little more than a scenic beach and line of family run tavernas.
