Easy to reach

Situated on the north coast of Corfu, Roda is blessed with some of the most picturesque surroundings available on the entire island. The few lucky people who know just how much Roda has to offer flock to the little village year after year to be part of its charming, traditional culture.

Roda has a golden shoreline with tavernas and bars where you can sit and enjoy a bite to eat or a refreshing cold one. Although the village itself is quiet and petite, its neighbours can offer a lot of excitement for those looking to get out and about. It’s within easy reach of the island’s capital, Corfu Town.

An idyllic beach

Golden sands stretch along the entire coast of Roda, and this seven-kilometre strip offers enough room for everybody to kick back and relax under a parasol on a hired sunlounger. The spotlessly clean shores have earned Roda a Blue Flag award, making it an unbeatable location for couples looking for a romantic getaway, or groups with kids who like to paddle in the shallow waters. If you’re looking for cheap All Inclusive holidays to Greece, these sparkling sands won’t have to try hard to tempt you here.

At several points along the beach are watersports companies hiring out pedalos and banana boats at competitive prices. There are even opportunities to parasail and water-ski, so although the town itself is quaint and charming, the beach can offer action and adventure for the whole family.

An authentic Corfiot village

The traditional village of Roda has a lot to offer, as few other Corfu locations are as picturesque. Dramatic flowers and heavy, hanging vines lead locals and tourists alike between coffee shops and handmade jewellery stores. The weather might also encourage you to stop for a cold beer at one of the great family-owned bars.

At night the snaking alleyways of Roda light up as the drinking establishments and restaurants come to life. The street that leads down to the beach has a long row of local businesses, which offer visitors great food with international chefs and even opportunities to sing karaoke with the natives of Roda. It never feels crowded in this little town, but you can be sure that if you’re looking in the right places, there’s a good atmosphere to be had too.

Day trips to the city

If you’d like a bit more action, take a trip to Corfu Town, the cosmopolitan island capital. It takes just under an hour to get their via bus, but the connections are regular and efficient, and there’s plenty of information about timetables on display at local hotels and shops. From Corfu Town bus station you can get to just about anywhere on the island, but if you find you’ve got some time between buses you should definitely make the most of it and explore the city.

The Old Fortress which stands above Corfu Town is testament to the Venetian occupation of Corfu, and this structure is said to have defended the island from three seiges by the Ottoman Empire. Today, you can see just how this impressive fort did it, by taking part in a guided tour from one of the local companies.

Below sits the Old Town, where market traders and taverna owners beckon you to have a look at what they’ve got to offer. Try your hand at haggling and see if you can barter your way to a bargain pair of leather sandals. Most of the products on sale on the stalls are handmade and genuine, so there are few better places on the island to get those authentic souvenirs.

If you want to a go a bit more up-market, the commercial district has all your boutique fashion shops and top-end jewellers. The stylish streets in this corner of the capital are also home to some amazing international restaurants and cocktail bars with amazing bartenders who will shake up a cocktail you’ll definitely want the recipe for.
