A place of cultural significance is the pretty whitewashed village church of Sant Rafel. Sat on a hill, it has a Moorish feel about it with a pyramid shaped bell tower, and perfect views across Ibiza Town.
Iconic Ibiza clubs
If you’re going clubbing on your holiday in Sant Rafel, you couldn’t have picked a better place to stay. Three of the islands most famous clubs in Ibiza are on your doorstep. Amnesia, one of Ibiza’s super clubs with room for 5000 revellers, is within walking distance of the village. It hosts themed nights and has VIP sections on the upper levels.
Privilege is the world’s biggest nightclub. With a capacity of 10,000 clubbers, it has an indoor pool, a large stage where shows are performed and a garden chill zone.
Underground is a different kind of club where they don’t announce the lineup, and it’s all about the music. It’s got a no-frills approach and probably the cheapest drinks in any club on the island.
Sun, sea and fun in San Antonio
Your Sant Rafel holiday wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the vibrant town of San Antonio. In just under 15 minutes you’ll be in San Antonio Bay with its five beautiful golden sand beaches and warm shallow water perfect for the kids to splash about in. There are lots of beachside bars and restaurants, and some fun water activities to try out. Bounce over the waves on a flying fish inflatable or hang on tight on a banana boat ride.
Take a boat tour across the bay and its islands or hop on a jet boat at the port and feel the adrenaline rush as you jump the waves at high speed.
Historic Ibiza Town
From the world famous Pacha nightclub to the ancient citadel of Dalt Vila, Ibiza Town has something for everyone. For a dose of culture, head to the Old Town. Walk up the steep, cobbled streets, cross the drawbridge flanked by roman stone statues and you’re in the main square. Take in the panoramic views from the battlements by the Gothic cathedral, Our Lady of the Snows, then see the artworks inside the church.
If you want to see how the rich and famous live, go for a stroll around Ibiza Town’s two upmarket marinas. Superyachts bob on the water, and designer boutiques and fine dining restaurants mingle with luxury hotels on the quayside.
Cover the coast
Ibiza’s beaches are stunning, from bays surrounded by rugged cliffs to cute sandy coves. Take the family to Cala Longa with its safe shallow waters and activities aplenty to keep everyone occupied. Challenge yourself to reach the beach via a rickety ladder at Ses Balandres. It’s worth holding your breath for on the vertical descent to get there.
How about jetty jumping at dusk in Cap des Falcó? This pebbled beach sits next to the Sea Salines salt flats and is home to Experimental Beach, a cracking cocktail bar. For a different dusk experience, go to Benirras in the north of the island on a Sunday. Join in with the tribal drumming session at sunset after a visit to the nearby Boho-chic hippie market.
