Best family activities in Antalya
Active little explorers are sure to adore Incekum, where they can try diving, and Water Planet, where thrills and spills keep them laughing. Further afield, Aktur Park is a more traditional funfair and theme park experience, which has plenty to do for a pleasingly cheap ticket price. Horseriding is always a good way to get back to nature, although a 4×4 safari through Koprulu Canyon Natural Park by the Taurus Mountains is a superb adventure as well.
Other popular holidays in Turkey
Turkey is vast, making it full of places for a family holiday. The Bodrum region is traditionally Turkish, filled with markets, bazaars and Byzantine architecture by the sea.
It’s a similar story in the Dalaman region, nicknamed the Turquoise Coast for its beautiful seaside areas, which is also filled with natural hot springs and ancient rock tombs. Izmir is home to a trio of waterparks, together with a wildlife park and the fascinating ruins of Ephesus. That said, take a look at our Antalya travel guide to see what appeals the most, and check out our top family hotels here.
In Antalya, family values meet great value holiday deals
If the kids get restless on the four-hour direct flight from the UK, consult the map and plan an epic adventure in this vast area.
Antalya is a region rich in bright sunny beaches, mysterious forests and beautiful waterfalls. It’s massively popular with families as a result, who adore the relaxed lifestyle and scope for exploration.
You can enjoy Turkish culture with a Mediterranean twist in Incekum, which is also a massive hub for the diving community. Kids will love it for the Water Planet waterpark, packed with rides, chutes and flumes. Over in Belek there’s a more relaxed feel, and the surrounding golf courses will appeal to the sports fans in your family.
Side is a more lively town that’s also rich in history, said to be the ancient playground of Antony and Cleopatra, while Manavgat is the realm of adventure. You can raft downriver and explore the Taurus Mountains before packing up and heading to Lara Beach to unwind on eight kilometres of stunning shoreline.
Best family-friendly beaches
Antalya has a huge number of beaches, with Lara Beach among the most well known and built up. It’s flanked by football fields, restaurants, bars and playgrounds, although the longest beach in Antalya is actually Patara Beach. All 18 kilometres of that shoreline are under the watch of the World Wildlife Federation because the rare Loggerhead turtles lay their eggs here. For the more historically minded, a journey to Olympos Beach sees the stunning coastline surrounded by ruins from Roman times, filled with stories of pirate battles.
