The history of Egypt and its iconic pyramids are a source of fascination for millions around the world. That said – Luxor is one of the finest jewels in Egypt’s cultural crown. It’s also a great place for a family day out with older children, and can be reached in just under seven hours by car or ferry from Sharm el Sheikh.
Luxor is home to a third of the greatest antiquities in the world, making it a spectacular place to explore and discover the mysteries and myths of ancient Egyptian culture. Imagine how exciting it is to walk around the Valley of the Kings where the tombs of pharaohs including Tutankhamun are located. Cairo is also home to the iconic pyramids and the enormous sphinx. If you’re around in the evenings, you can catch an impressive light-show, which sees lasers and projections bounce off the sides of the pyramids, creating what can only be described as a visual extravaganza.
