Best restaurants in Paguera
With a wide selection of restaurants dishing up Spanish and Majorcan specialities, as well as plenty of Italian cuisine, there’s lots of eating options in Paguera. Due to the number of German tourists here, there are a few establishments with a German flavour, while many of the menus elsewhere are only in Spanish and German. You’ll find most of the restaurants located on the main boulevard, but there are some right on the seafront – and perched in the hillsides – that boast incredible views. If you venture slightly off the main track you’ll come across traditional Spanish and homely places to dine.
Pizzas and tapas at Feliciano's
Owned by Argentinians but serving Italian and Spanish food, Feliciano’s is set just off the main strip, so you get more of a local feel here. The attentive staff are a team of brothers who make and serve everything themselves. The pizzas are excellent.
Elegant beachside dining at Mar y Mar Restaurant & Beach Bar
This beautifully-presented beachside restaurant has pure white decor and is adorned with fish ornaments – so you can guess what’s on the menu. The seafood and meat main courses are accompanied by a generous, help-yourself salad bar. At night soft blue lights are turned on to give a calm ambience while dancers and fire baton twirlers perform on the beach.
Fresh fish on the patio at Villa Columbus Restaurant
Set back from the boulevard, this rustic taverna is a good option for a romantic meal or some family time. The beautiful patio area comes complete with an elegant fountain and is the ideal setting for BBQ nights. Fish is bought from the market on a Saturday morning so it’s served at its freshest that night in your grilled fish dish or paella.
Family-run traditions at Osteria La Campana
Look for the big bell outside, which will guide your way to this family business. The fresh pasta is very good and you can also expect to find octopus, steaks and grilled cheese on the menu. There’s a street-side seating area and a small garden to relax in.
Lounge or dine by the sea at Restaurante La Vida
The outdoor, beachside seating area is the triumph of this restaurant, with large red sails to shade you from the glare of the sun. The menu is both Spanish and German so you can order cold cuts and mixed breads for breakfast and tapas for dinner, or just sit and sip an Aperol Spritz at the beach lounge.
Meat-lovers' paradise at Los Poetas Andaluces
Visit here for big portions of Spanish food. There is plenty of melt-in-the-mouth meat on the menu, such as shoulder of lamb, juicy steaks and suckling pig. The decor is pleasingly traditional, with strings of garlic, hams and pottery hanging from the ceiling.
Two Michelin Stars at Zaranda
Just inland from Paguera, in the village of es Capdella, Zaranda is worth the trip for their outstanding mastery of food. Set in the sophisticated 5* country hotel Castell Son Claret, the head chef has two Michelin Stars for creative cuisine. This restaurant isn’t cheap at €80-150 per head, but it’s a wonderful treat for a special occasion. You can choose the full tasting menu or a selection of three or four courses.
Good value, great view at Paradise Beach
Sitting on the terrace of this restaurant, overlooking the wide beach on the eastern edge of Paguera, you might think you’re on a tropical island, hence the name Paradise Beach. This modest restaurant serves home-cooked meals such as paella or burgers and has a very reasonable Menu of The Day for €10 available every day until 5pm.
Lots to sample at Sa Finca
This tapas bar and restaurant sits on the main boulevard and is a busy little place, but it maintains its warm atmosphere and good service. There is a varied menu, so, as well as tapas, you can eat many regional dishes and more daring bites such as rabbit in garlic sauce. The crema Catalana – similar to crème brulee – just might tempt you for afters.
Hilltop balcony dining at La Gritta
Ask for a seat on the balcony and you’ll be rewarded with outstanding sea views from high up over the bay. The food is deliciously simple, serving up pasta with garlic prawns, grilled lamb chops or seabass in salt. It’s best to book in advance to get the best seat.
