Best restaurants in Playa de Palma
The long promenade in Playa de Palma boasts plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from, while there are many more to be discovered in the streets behind. The majority of eateries here are Spanish, Italian or steakhouses but there are also a handful of places dishing up international bites such as Thai or Indian. And for food on the go there are also some takeaways on hand.
Flame-grilled steaks at Asadito
This Argentinian BBQ house is set just back from the seafront in the centre of town and specialises in sirloin, fillet and T-bone steaks. Set in a beautiful large building, there are plenty of seats indoors and out, although you might want to opt for the pretty outdoor courtyard with its talking point centrepiece of a fire and water fountain.
A huge menu at El Patio
This grill-restaurant has everything covered on its long menu of salads, steaks, grilled meat and fish, pizza, pasta and paella. It’s all reasonably priced too. You can watch the chefs prepare your meal from the open kitchen or sit in the covered garden terrace.
All-day beachside eats at Pabisa Beach Club
If you like the sound of beachside burgers with a side of mini golf then Pabisa is for you. The modern interior has big screens showing sport, while outdoors there’s a large sail-covered terrace looking out to the beach and a dinosaur-themed mini golf course. They do food all day, from brunches to sandwiches and cakes as well as pizza, burgers and BBQ food. It’s a nice spot for a cocktail or coffee in the evenings too.
Majorca meets Japan at Sunshine Tapas, Sushi & Mas
You can probably guess that this restaurant mixes Japanese with Spanish. As well as light bites of sushi or tapas, they can whip you up a steak and there are good veggie options too. This stylish restaurant is in a nice little spot to watch the world go by, and the best seats here are on the wraparound terrace.
A carnivore's heaven at Can Torrat
The place to go for chargrilled meat, each succulent serving comes with garlicky chips, dips, olives and bread. Located on the main road heading out of town, you’re away from the hubbub in this large restaurant that still manages to feel intimate. Sit on the terrace to admire mountain views with the fountain trickling in the background.
Fish on ice at Sa Barca
For no-frills, uber-fresh seafood, head to the unassuming Sa Barca. A selection of fruits de mare caught that morning is displayed on ice for you to choose from. They know exactly how to cook it to get the best out of both fish and shellfish.
Authentic Thai with a twist at My Thai
The chef here is Thai so you get authentic food cooked how you like it – just ask if you want more or less spice. The restaurant is decorated with bamboo and Buddhas and they have all the Thai classics on the menu. Combining Spanish elements, such as sea bream, gives the menu a nice twist.
Mega kebabs at Kanistesa Bar Restaurante
Down a side street off the promenade, you could easily walk by Kanistesa. But give it a go and you’ll get fresh and tasty seafood, meat, pasta and salads – including possibly the longest kebab skewer you’ve ever seen.
Contemporary place to dine at Cupido Bar
On the site of the Royal Cupido Hotel, the pure white terrace is a cool place to hang out with a cocktail, particularly when the DJ is playing. Serving brunches, light bites and bigger portions such as hamburgers, they also do a mean coffee.
Come in for a curry at India House
On the seafront near the aquarium, you might not expect to find an Indian restaurant. But India House makes a nice change to paella, and they also serve Asian drinks such as Cobra beer. It might not look much from the outside, but looks can be deceiving.
