A guide to nightlife in Costa De La Luz
Slightly calmer than its Costa cousins, Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca, the nightlife you’ll find on Costa de la Luz holidays is more authentically Spanish, with fewer late-night clubs but Spanish spirit in spades. Within the main resorts of El Rompido, Punta Umbria, Isla Canela and Islantilla, you’ll find great hotel bars and local seafront restaurants as well as a healthy dose of flamenco flair.
Scratch the itch at Mosquito Club
If vibrant nightlife is your priority then let Punta Umbria host your Costa de la Luz holiday. One of the hottest spots in town is the Mosquito Club, who celebrated their tenth summer in 2015. Situated right on the beach, Mosquito Club is a cultural, arts and sports-entertainment venue offering all sorts of gigs from live music to poetry readings. Visit in the late afternoon for laidback Latin, afrobeat, funk and reggae sounds.
Cocktails and good times at Horizontal Beach Club
With an extensive and reasonably priced drinks menu featuring elaborate and delectable mojitos and more, the Horizontal Beach Club in El Rompido is a must-visit for cocktail fiends. This is good spot to take the girls, and is often the kick-off point for hen parties.
Take it easy at Orange Grove Sports Bar
Fans of sport take note – the Orange Grove Sports Bar in El Rompido has Sky TV, BT Sport and Spanish channels to attract both locals and tourists. It’s family-friendly and serves tasty food too.
Celebrity times at De Luz y de Sal Bar
Islantilla is a fairly quiet resort but the beachfront De Luz y de Sal bar, owned by Spanish rap star Sergio Contreras, certainly caused a stir when it opened. If you’re looking for fancy drinks with an urban edge on your holidays to Costa de la Luz, this is the place to go.
Catch the sun at Kiu Terrace
A favourite in Islantilla is the newly revamped Kiu Terrace. This on trend bar has a large outdoor terrace to enjoy tapas and wine while the sun goes down. Don’t leave without sampling the local sherry – it’s made just along the coast in Jerez.
See a show at La Cava Taberna Flamenca
The 90-minute La Cava Taberna Flamenca show in Cadiz is hugely popular with tourists, although the show itself is rated much higher than the food on offer so you might want to eat beforehand. Be captivated by the frills and twirls on this traditional Spanish night out.
Warm welcomes at Havana Cafe
The old town of Cadiz is home to a range of cosy, welcoming bars including the Havana Café which serves exotic Cuban cocktails. Beautifully decorated inside and out, and with a warm homely feel, they specialise in mojitos (of course!) but also have a good range of bottled beers too.
Head here for live music and a continental vibe in a quirky Cadiz venue by the sea. It attracts backpackers and expats as well as general holidaymakers who come for the language cafes and hearty food. The music goes on late.

Don't miss La Casa Inquieta
You’ll find this gem in Conil de la Frontera – a chameleon type venue that does everything from theatre to pub grub. Set in a beautiful old building, there is plenty of space in the main bar and separate side rooms where you can simply sit and read the books they have lined up like a library.
All the classics at 720 Gin&Juice
This trendy bar has a wide range of gins displayed neatly on upcycled crate shelving. Whether you want a classic G&T or a twist on an old-school cocktail, you won’t be disappointed with the quality of their beverages.
