Costa Adeje has the most Blue Flag beaches of any resort in Tenerife and offers a mix of fine golden sands and natural black volcanic sands. This award is given to beaches that have cleanest seawater, qualified lifeguards on site, good general facilities, such as public toilets and cafés, and maintain a strict domestic pet ban. Playa del Duque and Playa Fañabé rank as numbers one and two of the top things to do in Costa Adeje, according to TripAdvisor. The other sandy stretches rounding out the Blue Flag five are Playa Torviscas and Playas Troya I and II.

Stretch out on the shores, hire snorkelling gear or stroll down the promenade of Playa del Duque. All you need is a towel to lay out and bask under the hot Tenerife sun – you could take your own picnic to keep the cost down, or there are plenty of eateries around for a bite to eat.
