Reviewing the Best Shopping in Costa Del Sol

Shopping centres and tourist-targeted souvenir shops can be found everywhere in Spanish resorts yet to really find the best Costa Del Sol has to offer, you have to delve a little deeper. Hidden within the mountains, down small alleyways and in bustling marketplaces, you can find boutiques and local fashion designers that are world class. We’ve compiled a list of the greatest places we’ve found thanks to some secret knowledge from the locals!

Malaga

As the largest city in the Costa Del Sol, Malaga is a fashionista’s dream. Aside from the high street chains found on most of the city’s streets, (We’re looking at you Zara and H&M), there is plenty more to discover.  Calle Granada is host to many small boutiques hosting fashions from local designers. Examples of these include Callate La Boca and the Indian-inspired Sharma. More well known Spanish designers, such as Roberto Verino and Adolfo Dominguez, can also be found in the streets around Calle Marques de Larios.

Marbella

Marbella has long been notorious for its glamorous visitors and its televised popularity on The Only Way is Essex has seen even more people flock to the destination. Fashion gods and goddesses will be fulfilled by the many designer fashion houses (both local and world renowned). Versace and Gucci bring haute couture while Hermes Govantes hosts contemporary Spanish fashions and the designer/vintage boutique Deja Vu offers something a little different. A holiday to Marbella means luxury shopping opportunities at every turn.

Lanas del Rio

This really is an unmissable opportunity as Paul and Dawn, an English couple who have lovingly restored vintage weaving machinery, make and sell their woollen fabrics from their mill. You can choose from blankets, throws, scarves, ponchos and capes all made on site. Located in Gaucin within the Spanish Ronda mountains, you’ll never find such unique garments made in a stunningly beautiful destination like this again. It’s worth making the journey from wherever you’re staying in Costa Del Sol.

Fuengirola Markets

Street markets are popular in many Costa Del Sol destinations, including Torremolinos and Estepona, but Fuengirola is really where the most special trinkets can be found. The market is held in the town centre’s fairground and has a wide range of stalls. These offer crafted ceramics and fabrics, vintage Spanish clothing at cheap prices and authentic jewellery from eras gone by. Look out for independent designers who rent stalls to sell their wares. If you’re holidaying in Fuengirola, make sure to keep a Tuesday or Saturday free to visit the market!

Shopping in the Costa Del Sol doesn’t just have to mean duty free perfume shops and streets of familiar high street stores. Explore the area for yourself and let us know of any other fashion hubs you find!
