A holiday is a great time to relax, unwind, and leave the constant cycle of hassle and random catastrophes that is your everyday life behind, for a completely new cycle of hassle and random catastrophes. These guys probably found their holiday to by as exhausting as their worst week at work…
First you have to remember you’re on holiday
Worst mother ever – get 5yo out of bed, pack lunch etc only to get “But Mommy, it is a school holiday today” #EpicFail #SorryNoo #NoSchool
— Nadia Landman (@nadia_landman) June 15, 2015
The force of habit is a strong one. Maybe stick some post-its by the bed that say “Don’t get up yet”?
Then there’s the packing
How you pack can make or break your holiday. Packing well will ensure a delightful trip with everything you need on-hand, and as we’ve said before, it’s not that hard. But still, even with the very best of intentions, sometimes you can forget the essentials.
@GAMEHelps Don’t suppose there’s anywhere in North Wales that stocks Wii Sensor bars are there? Holiday packing disaster and very sad kids! — ClumsyPuddle (@ClumsyPuddle) April 3, 2015
And by essentials, we mean essentials.
I’m packing for my holiday tomorrow and I have 5 bikini tops AND NO BOTTOMS, this is a disaster
— robyn davis (@_robyndavis) February 14, 2015
But of course, sometimes, not packing enough isn’t the problem…
When your suitcase is overweight because your mum has brought 4kg of bacon for your brother. That. #meaty #holidayfails — Ffion (@ffion_green1) September 1, 2015
Other major problems include: doors
Once you’ve remembered you’re on holiday, and packed appropriately, and caught your flight, that doesn’t mean you’re in the clear. Sometimes something as simple as getting into the place you’re trying to spend your holiday can become a real challenge.
Entering the 4th hour of being locked out of our holiday cottage. The ‘manager’ is a keyless cleaner, the owner is in London. #epicfail

Then again, getting out again can also cause problems. Still, if you’re going to get locked in somewhere, there are worse places to be, as this Texan found out after waiting a little too long to leave a bookshop while on holiday in the UK.
Hi @Waterstones I’ve been locked inside of your Trafalgar Square bookstore for 2 hours now. Please let me out. — David Willis (@DWill_) October 16, 2014
Money troubles
However your holiday goes, the odds are it’s going to make a dent in your wallet. There are ways to make sure you have a bit of extra holiday money and we also know of some holiday destinations that are great value, as you can see. Then of course, there are more… unorthodox… ways of getting your holiday cash…
Hahaha going to a casino when you’re broke in hopes to have money for vacation #epicfail @RAEbomb_25

But even if you have enough money, you still need to make sure you have the right money…
Trying to be ded organised for my holiday only to find I’ve changed all my money into the wrong currency Shan on me #Hungaryfortheeuro

Social media worries
The best part of any holiday, of course, is incessantly tweeting, facebooking and instagramming everything you can to show all those poor saps at home what a great holiday you’re having. Unfortunately, with all the various algorithms these sites use to make sure you’re being advertised to properly, those status updates can sometimes have unintended consequences.
@WIRED after 2 weeks vacation in India my newsfeed had gossip on Baliwood stars but not a close friend’s engagement announcement. #epicfail — A.C. Generator (@acgenerator) January 30, 2015
Or worse, all your smug holiday snaps might not even manage to post!
Just realized that none of my posts from my wonderful vacation on Instagram got tweeted.. Bummed. #epicfail #willrepostsome
— Kathryn Sears (@Kathrynsears) August 30, 2014
I’m sure everyone breathed a sigh of relief that she was going to repost them.
