James Bond, Dr No, 1962
Where: Mammee Bay, Ocho Rios, Jamaica
As one of the most famous bond scenes of all time, I think we’d be lying if we said we haven’t copied that moment where Honey Ryder, played by Ursula Andress, emerges from the sea in a white bikini. But does anyone know where this scene was actually shot? Well, if you didn’t know it was filmed just a kilometre east of Mammee Bay in Ocho Rios. Also known as ‘James Bond Beach’ you’ll know you’ve reached that iconic spot when you come across a river appearing from rocks, this stream will lead to the small beach where we met the very first bond girl.
The Talented Mr Ripley, 1999
Where: Piazza, Ischia, Italy
This 1999 film starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, and Matt Damon provides a glamorous portrayal of Italy. The film highlights Italy’s natural beauty, and in particular Piazza seafront, which you’ll find on the island of Ischia in the bay of Naples. This is the area where the ‘Festival of the Madonna’ takes place and is instantly recognisable with its towering castle backdrop.
Kevin and Perry Go Large, 2000
Where: Benirràs Beach, San Juan, Ibiza
Is it just us or did Kevin and Perry’s adventures in Ibiza make us all slightly envious? Although they were hundreds of locations used, one of the funniest scenes was actually shot on Benirrás Beach. This partly pebbled beach sits just 10 minutes away from the resort of Puerto San Miguel and offers amazing views and shallow waters, which are great for swimming in. So, if you’re a fan of the comedy duo then why not relive those side-splitting scenes while you sunbathe on this incredible beach?

The Beach, 2000
Where: Maya Beach, Phi Phi Island, Thailand
Maya Beach on Phi Phi Island is one of the most visited beaches in the world and it’s all thanks to its starring role in the hit film The Beach. This coming of age picture put Maya Beach on the map and seems to be the inspiration behind many trips to Thailand. Plus, with the clearest water shielded by dramatic cliffs, this not-so-secret spot has become one of the world’s most photographed beaches.
Mamma Mia, 2008
Where: Kastani Beach, Skopelos Island, Greece
As one of the UK’s highest grossing films, it’s hardly surprising that the Greek island of Skopelos saw a sudden boom in tourism after the release of Mamma Mia in 2008. Kastani Beach, where much of the action took place, has become a must for avid film-goers. With pines that spread out towards the sea and inviting shallow waters, this small pebble beach is definitely worth a visit – even if it’s only to recreate those famous ABBA routines.
James Bond Skyfall, 2012
Where: Calis Beach, Fethiye, Turkey
The more recent 007 film Skyfall places bond in Fethiye on the beautiful Calis Beach. After the agent is presumed dead, this small village seems like the perfect place to escape to. You may not be able to visit the bar on the beach where we watched bond play that scorpion drinking game as it was built for filming purposes, but you can still stop by Calis Beach. If you haven’t already visited this beach it’s a no-brainer – I mean how many people can say they have stepped on the same sand as Daniel Craig?
