Also known as the Pompeii of the Aegean, due to the fact it was buried by volcanic ash, the earliest evidence of any civilisation in this Greek city has been traced back to the fifth millennium BC.
This everlasting city has been excavated since 1967, allowing visitors to enjoy these ruins. It is also supposedly the inspiration for Plato’s Atlantis. We recommend hiring a guide who can bring the story of this Minoan Bronze Age settlement to life but, you can do the tour alone, this will give you time to leisurely stroll around the awe-inspiring ruins.

Tourists can enjoy hot air ballooning in Goreme. Or try trekking in the impressive valleys and formations that were shaped by the eruptions of three volcanoes, this is also extremely popular around here.
Walk the Ancient City Walls in Dubrovnik, Croatia
These medieval walls encircle most of the city and were built as a defence prior to the seventh century. They are known to be one of the greatest fortification systems of the Middle Ages, as no army tried to rupture them, not only did they keep Dubrovnik safe, but also preserved this magnificent fort. It is a long walk that involves many steps, but the views from the top are amazing. There’s no rush so you can stop and enjoy the moment and maybe enjoy a beverage in one of the cafes and bars on the way.
