After grabbing a fantastic last minute bargain on the Holiday Hypermarket website, we were whisked off to the Levante Lux apartments in Benidorm for a week of sun, sea and sand. Despite many people saying Benidorm is a rough and scruffy place to go, we can honestly say that we had one of the best holidays we’ve ever had.
We paid a £40 bond for breakages on arrival but got that back no problem. In fact, everywhere I have stayed in recent years has done this so we weren’t surprised. The apartment was cheap and cheerful, nothing flash but then we hadn’t flashed our cash upon booking! It was clean though and had a huge balcony which was nice to relax on on an evening. The maid visited each day, and our towels and linen were changed once.
The pool was lovely, again nothing special but it was roomy with lots of sunbeds, though we sometimes didn’t get one if we had been lazy and not emerged from our room before lunch time!
Our board was self catering so ate out every night. Bars and restaurants were a convenient 2 minute walk away, yet we weren’t in the centre of the party scene. We were grateful for this as it was really nice to be able to return to a peaceful apartment.
We’d read some of the reviews about the bond and all inclusive drinks upgrade, but opted against this because, to be honest, we hardly drink during the day and on an evening the bars had better happy hour offers! We probably saved a fortune.
It was our first holiday to Benidorm and we had heard people describe it as Blackpool in the sun and I can see where they are coming from. I hate Blackpool (maybe the weather clouded my judgement) but I absolutely loved Benidorm’s atmosphere. Whether people chill out more abroad I don’t know, but we thought the people friendly, the endless souvenir shops quite funny and the fact that we could have fish and chips was fine by us! It’s lively, quirky, great fun and above all HOT! Overall we had a brilliant week’s stay. I have no complaints at all and would definitely recommend the apartments to those wanting something near to the nightlife, but far enough away for a good night’s sleep.
