I’ve just landed back in rainy old England after a cracking holiday in Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt with a couple of best friends. I’d never been to Egypt before, but I’d definitely go back. We stayed in the First Choice Holiday Village set on the beachfront and had a swim-up room (wow!!) which was extremely comfortable and had all food and drink was included in the price of our holiday. The hotel pools were really nice too. The main pool swirled around, and it was from here that we could swim to our rooms. We usually spent time in the pool around midday when the sun was too intense to sunbathe! Throughout the whole week the weather was gorgeous, although the sun did set early on an evening.
We did some amateur snorkelling on the reef, and the marine life we encountered was out of this world. The tropical fish were so unabashed, even when you’d only waded in up to your knees, they’d dart around your ankles! We went go-karting and I won! Obviously a born racer! It was such a great laugh. I’d also recommend the quad biking desert excursion from Sharm el Sheikh, it was so much fun! It cost us approximately £15 for entry into the famous Naama Bay nightlife. There is a Pacha nightclub here, which was euphoric.
Our trip to the pyramids at Giza was by far the most memorable part of our holiday. An international flight to Cairo set each of us back by approximately £160, from where we were able to reach Giza. It has been a life-long ambition of mine to witness the sphinx against a backdrop of pyramids with my own eyes and now that I have, I have my very own image that will stay with me forever. It felt so special to me. The pyramids were unexpectedly cramped inside, and if I were claustrophobic, I certainly wouldn’t be anywhere near the entrance! Remember to keep some coins for when you leave the pyramid as the guard won’t let you out otherwise! Other than this, it was an amazing experience. I really hope we all return to Egypt again one day to refresh my mental photographs of the pyramids.
