The industry’s premier travel awards event has opened its doors for this year’s nominations.
Along with the World Travel Awards (regularly called “The Oscars” of the travel world), the Globe Travel Awards have a habit of putting on a real glitz and glamour show. With last year’s event hosted by the incorrigible comedy corker that is Jimmy Carr, the bar has been set extremely high for the 2012 Awards!
As the event organisers have stated on their official site, the integrity of the awards is of paramount importance to them. That’s why the winners are decided by travel agents alone. This means that the people who know the best places for every kind of trip, from cheap holidays to luxury cruise travel, are the only ones doing the voting.
So travel agents across the country will be putting forth their top destinations, airlines (for both cheap flights and premium carriers) cities and cruise holiday liners. Nominations are open until 13 October and the votes will be cast between 17 November and 08 December.
The event itself will take place at the luxurious Grosvenor House hotel on 25 January 2012, where the hopeful nominees will wait with eager anticipation for their chance to lift one of the prestigious Golden Globes.
In the aftermath of the award ceremony, holidaymakers will have plenty of inspiration for their next holiday as the proud winners are bound to be quite vocal about their achievement.
The “At Home” category is devoted to recognising the companies who operate out of the UK and really raise the bar in terms of excellence. This means that the winners of the “Best UK Hotel Chain”, “Best UK Theme Park” and the “Best UK Operator UK holidays” will have plenty to shout about to their prospective customers who are planning a staycation next year.
