Long, sandy bay

The 2.5 kilometres of sand at Playa d’en Bossa is dotted with cool beach bars where you can dance on the sand. Or you might want to just take a long walk, have a quiet beer in one of the cafes or find some chill out space on this wide strip. Both provide must have experiences that make Ibiza holidays amazing.

The shallow, clear waters with a sandy sea bed make playing on the shores safe for families and wading out in the warm waters an option for less confident swimmers. Watersports available range from sunset kayak trips to stand-up paddle-boarding. There’s a tiny island just off the beach at the Ibiza Town end that is a perfect distance to propel yourself out to.

There are other beaches close by, such as palm-tree-lined Figueretas on the northern edge of Ibiza Town, which can be reached by a long promenade, and the island’s official nudist beach at Es Cavallet to the south.

Stylish clubs

The cool resort of Playa d’en Bossa has some of the most on trend clubs in Ibiza. Space has been voted DJ Mag’s Best Global Club five times and counting, and has hosted an impressive list of the world’s biggest dance music DJs since it opened in 1989.

Nearby DC10 is known for its all-day after-parties that are held inside and out at a converted hangar at the end of the airport runway. Two open-air beach and pool clubs with an exclusive feel are Ushuaia and Bora Bora, who both attracts A-list DJs. You can even stay at the glamorous Ushuaia Beach Hotel so you’re in the thick of the action. Cheap holidays to Ibiza are still possible even within this stylish area of the island, so there will be plenty of options depending on your budget.

A packed promenade

Playa d’en Bossa does the opposite of most beach resorts in terms of shopping. Here the souvenirs and shops aimed at tourists are on the main road through town whereas the high-end and individual boutiques are on the seafront. Along this beach strip you’ll find shops selling clothes, leather goods, beachwear and hats, so you can buy your next beach or clubbing outfit.

The restaurants and bars that sit by the sea are equally sophisticated, serving the island’s fine seafood and Spanish cuisine as well as other Mediterranean and international flavours. Of course, you can also get that take-away you’ve be hankering for to get the salts back in your body after a long night out.

Out and about

Small but perfectly formed, Ibiza’s water park Aguamar is in the centre of Playa d’en Bossa. It has fast-paced water chutes like the Kamikaze and Black Hole as well as calmer rides for even the littlest tots.

Ibiza Town is a short bus ride from Playa d’en Bossa. Here you can wander around the marina and admire the super yachts moored up or climb up to Dalt Villa, the walled old town on a hill looming over the city. It has a series of cobbled streets with quaint shops and romantic restaurants. Once you’ve sampled all of Playa Den Bossa’s clubs, Ibiza Town also has some excellent nightlife, including superclub Pacha, which is situated next to the marina.

The nearby San Jordi Hippodrome becomes a giant car boot sale on Saturdays. If you don’t mind a rummage you can get some bargains here.
