A quiet night’s sleep

It’s true many people visiting Lanzarote are looking forward to some late nights. However, sometimes it’s nice to be somewhere where you don’t feel obliged to stay up until dawn.

Playa de los Pocillos’ quiet atmosphere means that you’re never going to be kept up all night, and you’ll be able to get some proper rest before enjoying the next day’s activities. And if you have set aside time for that big night out, the exciting nightlife of Playa del Carmen is only a 20-minute walk away along the promenade.

A beach life

Playa de los Pocillos is ideally located with a sheltered beach, great for families with young children – and for anyone else looking for a relatively quiet time in the sun.

The beach is protected from the island’s prevailing winds and has a shallow incline leading to the water’s edge. Therefore, Playa de los Pocillos is the ideal place to relax, mess about and enjoy the sun without having to worry about a thing.

Playa de los Pocillos’ beach is a little smaller than some of its neighbours’, but is definitely their rival in terms of the quality of its sand and sea. With a one kilometre expanse of sand and a shallow incline leading to the water, this beach is ideal for families. It also serves as a perfect alternative to the well-known Playa Grande of Puerto del Carmen – which is only a 20-minute walk along the promenade.

Wandering along the promenade

With recent investment from the European Union, Playa de los Pocillos’ promenade has been revitalised. Now a traffic-free, attractive walkway linking its nearby sister resorts of Playa del Carmen and Matagorda, the promenade here is a great place to hang out and a very convenient way of exploring other beaches, atmospheres and attractions in this part of the island.

Close to the capital

Being only 10 kilometres south of Arrecife means that you’re always close to the attractions and conveniences of Lanzarote‘s capital. Another benefit comes from being so close to the airport – Playa de los Pocillos has one the shortest transfer times of any resort on the island, with only five minutes between your arrival and the chance to relax in your chosen accommodation.

Shopping aplenty

There are three main centres in the relatively small town of Playa de los Pocillos, all of which offer a range of bars, restaurants and retail options. Here is where you’ll find all the souvenirs you might want to buy loved ones back home. But if you’re looking for some serious retail therapy it’s best to head down the promenade to Playa del Carmen, or to the luxury boutiques in Playa Calero.

Days out

Days spent on or near the beach are all very well, but if you have children in your party then you’ll probably want to spend a bit of time in a place that contrasts with Playa de los Pocillos’ laidback atmosphere – and enjoy it all the more when you return.

Luckily Playa de los Pocillos’ convenient location means that a family day out is easily arranged – just head to the Wild West-themed Rancho Texas Park, where you’ll find shows featuring the Wild West’s most famous characters and a wildlife park that should keep even the most restless of your party well occupied. And if the adventurous mood takes you then a must-see is the eerie landscape of Timanfaya National Park, where just under the surface lies a fascinating glimpse of Lanzarote’s volcanic origins.
