A destination for everyone

The largest parish you’ll come across during holidays in Barbados, Christ Church offers an array of beaches and resorts, as well as fantastic scenery, festivals and watersports opportunities, making it one of the very best holiday destinations on the island.

Expect to enjoy its fantastic climate the whole year around, with only light showers during the Caribbean‘s rainy season. As well as staying on the sand, there are plenty of opportunities to explore life beneath the waves when you go scuba diving off the Christ Church coast.

Christ Church is on the south coast of Barbados. Popular among visitors for its vibrant nightlife at St Lawrence, this region also has a fantastic array of restaurants and bars.

The parish of Christ Church has plenty of venues where you can strut your stuff and dance the night away. After a Friday fish supper, the relaxed atmosphere at Oistins soon develops into a party accompanied by rum and a BBQ. And you’ll find some of the most vibrant nightclubs on the island in Christ Church, including Harbour Lights in Bridgetown.

Long, luscious beaches

If you’ve come to Christ Church to mellow out on the sand and simply soak up the rays, you won’t be disappointed as it has some of the best beaches in Barbados. Long Beach, situated on the most southerly point of the island, is the place to explore for fantastic walks on the cliffs towering above the sea. There are stairs leading to the sea, and once you reach the shore you can really relish this semi-isolated spot. Kite-surfing is also excellent here and the destination is famous for its strong winds.

Families are sure to enjoy the vibe at Enterprise Beach, situated next door to Miami Beach. Motor sports are banned but this doesn’t mean to say that you can’t hire a sail boat or any other type of non-motorised sporting essentials. Relax and savour the moment with some tasty snacks, or rent a sunlounger for some serious tanning time. The sea here is relatively calm, so it’s excellent for any water babies in the family.

Dover Beach is popular for its activities and lively atmosphere. Both kite and windsurfing are popular here and the action isn’t restricted to the beach. Amenities are plentiful in this resort, with Dover Beach being perennially popular with visitors and locals.

This is the venue to sample all of the hedonistic pleasures of nearby St Lawrence. The area is simply heaving with nightclubs, restaurants and laid-back bars. You can even unwind watching a game of cricket or football if you head down to Dover playing field.

Golfer's delights in Christ Church

Both young and old love a spot of golf on holiday. As Christ Church is the home of the Barbados golf club in Durants as well as the Rockley golf club, any golfer can play the game and practice their skills to their heart’s content.

You can even book your tee time online before you arrive at the Barbados club in order to secure your spot. This club was approved by the PGA European tour to host tournaments and its greens have been reconstructed to bring them into pristine condition.

The nine hole course at Rockley Golf and Country Club is also a desirable venue for any keen fan of the sport. The club house is beautiful and makes for an excellent place to unwind and have a drink. You can also improve your game with the club’s professional tutors, or simply have some fun aiming for that all elusive hole in one.

Everyone has to eat

Barbados is also the place to visit for an assortment of restaurants. Venues range from the refined elegance of Champers Restaurant and Wine Bar in Skeetes Hill, to the laid-back vibe of Surfer’s Bay Beach Bar in Silver Rock Beach. You’ll soon be able to track down the best places to sample the ultimate in Bajan cooking – Barbados’ savoury cuisine. What’s more, many of those seeking All Inclusive Barbados holidays are likely to be surprised by the range of gourmet cuisine available at some of the hotels here.

Natural beauty all around

Barbados is a naturally beautiful island and the perfect place to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime Caribbean holiday. Perhaps the best place to view this spectacular environment is the Graeme Hall Nature Sanctuary, where you can enjoy the splendours of this wonderful habitat. Parts of the sanctuary are closed as a result of ongoing local issues, but this doesn’t mean that you can’t admire the peace and tranquillity of this destination and wander around its fantastic lake. After all, everyone’s supposed to relax when on holiday.
