Pomos Holidays 2024/2025
If you’re considering spending your holidays in Cyprus, why not stay in charming Pomos? Cyprus’ most secluded village is tucked away on the island’s north-west peninsula. It’s a world away from the buzzing nightlife of Ayia Napa and the busy beaches on the southern coast. On Pomos holidays you’ll discover footprint-free beaches and a quiet, unspoiled Cypriot village, even during high season.

Getting used to island life
Pomos will captivate you from the get-go. It’s a dreamy landscape of olive groves, vineyards and citrus orchards surrounds Pomos. Cyprus’ rugged coastline stretches out on either side of the town, washed by cobalt seas. The village itself is nestled around a picturesque harbour, where traditional fishing crafts bob in the water. It boasts several local restaurants, bars and shops.
Despite its secluded atmosphere, you’ll find a rich cultural life in Pomos. Cyprus’ premier jazz festival is held here every August, and there’s a small cultural centre and even a national history museum, where you can learn all about the region’s flora and fauna.
A choice of beaches
Pomos holidays involve long, languid days swimming and sunbathing. When it comes to beaches, Pomos truly is blessed. You’ll find a pair of small pebbled coves, one on either side of the harbour, where the shallow, calm waters provide the perfect spot for swimming with children. There’s also a longer stretch of beach, where rugged limestone cliffs provide natural shade from the Mediterranean sun.
If you have a car, you can drive down the coastal road in either direction, searching out secluded beaches. Paradise Beach, just outside of town, even has a Caribbean-style bar. Enjoy some up-beat music and a cocktail as you take in the ocean view. The sunsets on this stretch of coastline are some of the most beautiful on the island.
Explore forests, rivers and gorges
If you like being outdoors, you’ll love visiting Pomos. Paphos forest is located just south of the village, and this idyllic area consists of forested valleys, steep mountains and gorges. It’s crossed with hiking tracks, and is a great spot for a walk. Stop to cool your feet in a river, or to enjoy a picnic in a shady grove.
Why not travel further afield?
It’s easy to get to Pomos – Paphos international airport is a 75-minute drive away. Pick up a rental car at the airport and head along the picturesque coastal road until you reach the village. Having a car will give you the freedom to explore nearby locations too.
Head south to the charming village of Polis, just 25-minutes’ drive away. The quaint, cobbled streets are lined with local art galleries, boutiques and cafés. There are several local tavernas where you can tuck into some Greek mezze too.
If you want to get away from it all, then Pomos is the spot for you. You’ll spend idyllic days hiking in the forest, or lounging on the beach. End the night watching the sun set over the ocean with a glass of Cypriot wine. You’ll come home feeling refreshed and renewed.
