A guide to nightlife in Nidri
Along with the capital and the southerly town of Vassiliki, Nidri serves as one of the most popular tourist destinations for holidays to Lefkas. Therefore, it’s no surprise that the main street is well stocked with several bars, cocktail lounges and nightclubs pumping out irresistible tunes until the early hours.
That being said, Nidri is not such a huge clubbing Mecca as resorts like Faliraki in Rhodes or Kavos in Corfu, and still retains a relatively low-key approach to nightlife. Those who simply wish to while away the evening with a quiet drink on their Lefkas holidays will find plenty of opportunity to do so on the waterside promenade. Below are a selection of some of the options on offer, catering to drinkers of all stripes.
Big nights and big vibes at Excess Club
As one of the biggest and most popular nightclubs in Nidri, you can expect to see world-famous DJs spinning the decks at Excess Club on a regular basis. On other nights, the music varies from house to garage to rock ‘n’ roll, as well as traditional Greek tunes, making for an eclectic nightlife experience. The ball generally doesn’t begin rolling until around midnight and the party continues well into the early hours.
The latest nights at Sailinn
This nightclub has a dancefloor that opens out onto the beach and stays open until 6am. Sailinn also serves up reasonably priced drinks in a glitzy and glamorous setting for those who really like to let their hair down. Depending on the night, the dress code varies. Though flip flops and shorts might be accepted on occasion, it’s advisable to go for smart-casual attire.
Pop up the road to Tree Bar
Situated next door to the Athos Hotel, the Tree Bar is a short 200m stroll out of town but well worth the effort. Its position on the waterfront affords fantastic sunset vistas, while the drinks are refreshing and the service excellent. You can even take your beverage into the hot-tub with you if you so desire. The bar really livens up on weekends, when the passing yachts stop in on the return journey from a day’s sailing.
Leave the land behind at Sunset and stars
For a night with a difference during your Greek island holiday, you can take a twilight cruise aboard the M/S Christina. Enjoy dinner on deck, partake of some light liquid refreshment and even indulge in a midnight swim. The knowledgeable astronomers on-board will also give an enlightening talk on the constellations, the cosmos and a whole array of other interesting star-based information. At €40 a head, this trip represents great value for a night to remember.
Chill out the right way at Ikaros Kitchen Bar
Ikaros’ proximity to the Meganissi ferry port makes it a popular choice for tourists arriving into or departing from Nidri, but though it fills up and maintains a lively atmosphere, it manages to straddle the line between vibrancy and relaxation with ease. Comfortable chairs and a chilled out soundtrack only accentuate the breath-taking views of the bay, making Ikaros a lovely place to partake in a cocktail or two.
Splash out at De Blanck Champagne & Wine Bar
This elegant wine bar offers the perfect place to enjoy a chilled beverage in a more relaxed setting. There is a limited but excellent snack menu if you’re feeling peckish, while free nibbles are provided with all drinks. Definitely not the cheapest venue on the island, this classy establishment is worth the extra outlay for an experience that is upmarket without being pretentious.
