Vasiliki Holidays 2024/2025
In the popular south of Lefkas, Vasiliki is Lefkas Town’s quieter sibling, just a short drive away. Oriented towards seaside fun and watersports, Vasiliki has some of the best windsurfing in Europe for you to enjoy during your holidays to Greece. The resort has good shops and a chilled evening vibe after a day on the water.

Multi-coloured sails
The wide, shallow bay here, combined with strong afternoon breezes, contributes to an ideal micro-climate for windsurfing on your Lefkas holidays. Vasiliki is, in fact, considered one of the best places in Europe for the sport and windsurfers flock here in high summer, particularly July and August. They’ve even given the afternoon wind the nickname of ‘Eric’.
Beginners will often start their lessons in the morning while the wind is still mild, then can watch the pros in action when Eric blows in at about 2pm to 3pm. If you plan on bringing your own equipment, many Vasiliki hotels offer special facilities for storing sails, surfboards and wetsuits – otherwise you can hire equipment at the beach.
As well as windsurfing schools, the pebbled shore here is packed with kite-surfing and sailing clubs, and scuba diving is also available.
Dinner and drinks
Once the surf is done for the day, it’s all about filling up on Greek delicacies and staying at the restaurants until late, as many stay open after midnight for drinks. Most cafes and family restaurants are located in the port area, providing good views of the bay, and are shaded by eucalyptus and plane trees. Here you can spend your Greece holidays eating souvlaki, gyros and freshly-caught seafood at affordable prices.
The handful of bars in Vasiliki range from those with DJs, like Tunnel Bar, to others like Vass Bar, where you can watch live sports on TV. There are also plenty of places to pick up a cocktail. 155 Cafe Bar, which does a mean mojito and is set a few streets back from the beach, feels like a true holiday discovery. If you’d like more in the way of drinking establishments and big clubs, Lefkas Town is about half an hour away by car or bus.
Another fun pastime in Vasiliki is wandering along the main street leading north from the harbour and dipping in and out of the shops selling fashion accessories, souvenirs and, of course, active wear.
Beaches nearby
Along the rugged coast to the south is the well-known and picturesque Agiofili beach, which can be reached either by land or, for a more fun journey, by water taxi. Although it doesn’t host many amenities – so bring your own towel and beach bag – it’s one of the clearest, cleanest and most beautiful beaches on the island. Departing every half hour, you can step off the ferry and be on Agiofili beach in 20 minutes.
Active holidays
The extensive flat plain behind Vasiliki offers many trails for walking or exploring by mountain bike, with picturesque villages such as Marantohori located in the flat wetlands. Or you can set off along the west side of the bay, known as Ponti, which has pleasant walking and cycling trails following the coast.
Boat or bus
As well as day-tripping to nearby beaches, boats leaving from Vasiliki offer tours of the impressive white limestone cliffs of the west coast of Lefkas.
For something a little closer, the bus ride to the capital Lefkas Town only takes half an hour. You can visit day or night to explore the narrow lanes with boutiques and squares full of tavernas and restaurants. Vasiliki is an ideal spot for cheap package holidays to Greece, offering not just its own stunning scenery and attractions but also easy access to neighbouring resorts.
