A guide to nightlife in Parga
The small, picturesque town of Parga is brimming with cosmopolitan charm and a generous smattering of delightful bars. In particular, the waterfront promenade is populated by homely tavernas serving cocktails and exquisite cuisine until around midnight. At which point those wishing to prolong the night should head to one of the many lounge bars. There’s still a clutch of places that stay open till late – some of which are listed below, along with a few more laid-back establishments.
Drinks with a view at Bar Caravel
As one of the oldest watering holes in Parga, Bar Caravel enjoys a prime location on the beachside boulevard, just metres from the sea. It provides its patrons with the perfect place to sip an ice cold beer in a comfy wicker chair and watch the waves crash against the shore. There are loads of tables under the terrace and in the homely yet modern interior with stone walls.
Open from 8am, you can head there for a morning coffee, grab an excellent lunch or ice cream during the day, or retire for drinks and snacks come evening. It also hosts live music on occasion.
A change of pace at Antico Rock Bar
Located on a side street in Parga old town, just steps from Krioneri Beach, this rock bar is a complete contrast to the majority of bars in this generally sleepy town. Up until midnight it plays more laid-back pop-rock tunes to satisfy the masses, with the videos shown on screens throughout the venue. But once the clock strikes 12, all bets are off – expect harder tunes from thrash to death metal and everything in between. They also play sports on the huge screen in the beer garden so you can catch your team while sipping on a cold one, then rock out after.
Drinks and a show at Kamini Bar
The mixologists at Kamini make sure they justify that title, crafting a cocktail list that is sure to satisfy taste buds of all kinds. The superb drink selection is complemented by the bar’s ideal location beneath the castle and in front of the picturesque waterfront, with unobstructed views. Live music sessions attract accomplished bands from all over the region playing all sorts of genres, and the blues night is particularly popular.
Happy hour until nine at Sugar Bar
Sugar Bar is the perfect place to watch the sun go down over the bay while sipping on your cocktail of choice, plus they also do great coffee.
Located on the harbour, it’s an intimate bar with views overlooking the beautiful island of Virgin Mary. This drinking den represents excellent value during happy hour – up until 9pm. Impeccable service and super-friendly staff make sure you feel like one of the family even on your first visit, and ensure it won’t be your last.
Cocktails galore at Parga's Distillery – Amicos Food & Bar
Part of Parga’s Distillery, which has been producing ouzo since 1894, at Amicos Bar you can sample the liqueur with some mezze or in creative cocktails.
Though it’s a short trek up the hill from the main harbour area – and the prices might be almost as steep as the incline on the walk up to it – upon arrival you’ll be well rewarded in the form of your delicious chilled drinks. As well as some of the finest cocktails in the region, Amicos Bar is treated to a fantastic vista of Parga and the Mediterranean beyond.
