Lithakia Holidays 2024/2025

For an idyllic escape in southern Zante, there are few locations more peaceful than the tiny village of Lithakia. Nestled at the foot of the Megalo Vouno hill, it’s surrounded by lush green landscapes of sprawling forests and sun-kissed olive groves. Sandy stretches of beach are under a 10-minute drive away when you feel the call of the sea. The village has a handful of tavernas and shops for dinners out or picking up ingredients for cooking your own meals.

Lithakia Holidays

Enjoy total relaxation when you stay in Lithakia, with the peace that such a secluded village offers. There are vast areas of open space to explore and you certainly don’t have to worry about crowds! Take long walks through the hills to explore this picturesque area, with Megalo Vouno itself a must-see.

Pop on your walking boots

Start your journey to majestic Megalo Vouno from Lithakia by following a hiking trail that takes you 500 metres up. Take in panoramic views across the pine and cypress forests and out towards the coast.

Beach days don't have to be quiet

Laganas Beach is just 10 minutes from the village by car and is a world away from the calm of Lithakia. If you’re looking for a lively beach with plenty of buzzing cafes and bars, then you’ll love this area. Agios Sostis Beach is also nearby and is much quieter than its neighbour. The calm waters are perfect for swimming and snorkelling, and the sands rarely get busy with other sunseekers.

Architecture that has to be seen

The hillside town of Keri is a 15-minute drive away and has a lovely pebble beach with a promenade lined with tavernas. It’s also one of the few places on the island to have houses that survived the devastating Ionian earthquake of 1953. You can see these quaint buildings dotted along the narrow streets of the town, adding a true sense of the past.

Cafe culture in spades

The island’s capital, Zante Town, is 25 minutes north of Lithakia by car. Here there are two large squares in which to enjoy a coffee on a cafe terrace and watch the world go by. St Mark’s Square in particular is full of cafes, restaurants and vibrant local atmosphere. There are many attractions to visit in Solomos Square, such as the Byzantine Museum that displays some of the ancient artefacts and paintings that were recovered after the earthquake on the island.
