A guide to nightlife in Calangute
While the bustling state of Goa may be known more for beach parties than for nightlife venues, there is ample opportunity to let your hair down on holidays to Goa – you simply have to know where to look. Calangute is home to a small selection of pubs, clubs and bars that promise everything from laid-back drinks with friends to wild evenings spent dancing with the locals. Keep reading to discover our pick of the best.
Dance the night away at Cafe Mambo, Calangute
If you’re looking for a night filled with good music and an even better atmosphere on your Goa holidays, head to Cafe Mambo. Located on one of the oldest, most popular streets in the whole of Goa, it’s a long-standing favourite among local party-goers.
This venue has a tendency to warm up gradually and we recommend heading here after 10pm, when the place really starts to fill up. With resident DJs that play the hottest club music long into the early hours, it’s a classy venue that’s well worth its entrance fee.
Catch the game at The Sportsman Bar
If you don’t want to miss the big game while you’re away, the aptly named Sportsman Bar may just be the perfect venue for you. Kick back with an ice cold beer as you watch some of the biggest and best sports matches, with live Premier League action regularly shown on the giant screens here.
Resident barman Max is on hand to make every guest feel welcome and comfortable. With lively karaoke nights and a coveted location right by the beach in Calangute, it’s the ideal spot from which to enjoy great value drinks with a spectacular view.
Experience the best party in town at Kamaki
One of the most vibrant clubs in Calangute, Kamaki is constantly buzzing with locals and young professionals who want to let their hair down. It’s a small venue that fills up quickly – especially at the weekend – so make sure to get here in plenty of time if you’re really hoping to make a night of it.
Despite the club’s popularity, the prices are reasonable on the vast selection of both drinks and bar snacks that are on offer. Alongside the wide range of wines and beers, it’s also worth checking out Kamaki’s impressive cocktail menu.
Hang out with the locals at The World Famous Decades Bar
The World Famous Decades Bar is a fantastic choice if you’re looking for a laid-back night filled with great drinks and a great vibe. The atmosphere here is particularly friendly, with beaming bar staff who are committed to making you feel right at home from the moment you step through the door.
The decor is particularly memorable, with giant black and white images of pop culture icons watching over you as you recline with friends old and new. It’s a humble looking venue located just off Calangute’s beaten track, but it’s well worth tracking this place down for a night away from the bustle of the town centre.
A taste of the familiar at Mr Toff Toff's
This wholesome venue is the closest to a traditional British pub that you’ll find in Calangute. Mr Toff Toff’s serves a vast range of drinks and bar snacks – in fact, its burgers are famous across the town. We recommend the distinctive homemade cream liqueur as an accompaniment – it gives Bailey’s a run for its money.
Thanks to its homely vibe, the bar here is particularly popular with the locals. Boasting a great view of the sunset over Goa, those spending an evening at Mr Toff Toff’s are always in for a treat.
