Akumal – five beaches to choose from

Holidays in Mexico naturally lend themselves to reclining on a white sand beach, cocktail in hand. Riviera Maya has some of the most beautiful beaches in the area, in fact it is regularly rated as having some of the best beaches in the world. Central Akumal is the most popular and lively section of beach, there you’ll find shops, bars, restaurants, and beachside lodgings. The North Akumal beach extends around Half Moon bay, and is closely situated to Yal-Ku Lagoon. Playa Maroma

Away from the lively buzz of the popular resorts, Playa Maroma is a quieter, more peaceful beach which is located 48 kilometres south of Cancun and slightly north of Playa del Carmen. With more than 500 acres of beach and a tropical rainforest beyond, the modern hotels that are built around the area respect and aid in reserving the beautiful landscape.

Playa del Carmen beach

A beach of two halves, this beach in the centre of Playa del Carmen has a busy northern end and a more relaxed southern end with a dive centre and caves.

Many people come to the north of the beach to experience Mamitas Beach Club, renowned for its popular music events including the Riviera Maya Jazz festival, and the BPM festival. Top artists have performed right on the beautiful beach, including the world-famous David Guetta and Tiesto.

With numerous shaded beach chairs and beds to relax on, Mamitas Beach Club provides an exclusive food and drink service, for refreshments on the beach. The club house includes a sit down restaurant and becomes the ultimate party location come nightfall.

Playa Paraiso

Rated as Mexico’s best beach by Trip Advisor’s Travellers Choice Awards 2016, Playa Paraiso is a dazzling beach which boasts fine white sand and pure blue water. Located just south of Tulum’s Mayan ruins, Playa Paraiso gives off a rustic bohemian vibe.

Not only is Playa Paraiso rich with history, but it is also a wonderful place to relax and indulge. Here you can experience true peace as the waves gently lap against the sand.
