Golden beaches
Praia Do Garrao is small but perfectly formed. Backed by natural sand dunes and blessed with a relaxing atmosphere, Vale De Garrao’s beach is named as East and West sections; Nascente and Poente. You’ll find easy parking, beachside restaurants, sun loungers for hire and water activities at both. And, despite its popularity in the summer months, you can always find your own quiet spot for soaking up the sun.
During your Vale De Garrao holidays, why not explore the shoreline on foot? From Quarteira to Faro, you can walk from beach to beach along a 17km stretch of uninterrupted golden sand, stopping en route for freshly caught seafood lunches or a cooling drink.
Boat trips, water sports and marinas
Take your pick of crazy water rides from most beaches within easy reach of Vale De Garrao. But if you don’t fancy being flung off a giant inflatable at high speed, take to the waves and explore the dramatic shoreline by more relaxing means. Boat trips can be booked from Albufeira Marina, about 30km west of Vale De Garrao. Choose from dolphin-watching trips, sea-cave adventures and even sunset cruises for chilling out with drinks and on-board DJs.
If you’ve energy to spare, challenge yourself at Quinta Do Lago’s Water Sports Academy. There’s surfing and paddleboarding from the beach, kayaking and sailing on saltwater lakes, as well as jet skis, water skis and wakeboarding.
Sightseeing and family fun
Your Algarve holiday isn’t complete without a trip to one of the amazing waterparks. At less than 15 minutes’ drive, Aquashow Park is your closest. Tots to teens will love the water slides, wave pools, rollercoasters and animal displays. Head about 30km west from Vale De Garrao for Guia’s infamous Zoomarine Park, or there’s Slide and Splash at Lagoa. The kids will love it!
If you prefer a quieter day trip, drive a few minutes to Quinta Do Lago for designer boutiques at Bougainvillea Plaza and people watching at Quinta Shopping. To relax completely, nature lovers can flock to Ria Formosa Natural Park. This 18,0000-hectare site is a haven for wildlife and worth every minute of the half-hour’s drive from Vale De Garrao.
Paradise for golfers
It’s not a secret that the Algarve is a mecca for golfers, but with Quinta Do Lago’s San Lorenzo Golf Course only five kilometres away and Vale Do Lobo’s Ocean and Royal Golf Courses just a 10-minute drive, you’re in the perfect place for a golfing holiday.
Sweeping views of the ocean and immaculate greens are all part of the Algarve golfing experience. Despite being world-class venues, the clubs in and around Vale De Garrao welcome players of all levels. If you fancy touring the region, there are 10 golf courses within a 30-minute drive.
Nightlife and where to find it
The bars and restaurants near Vale De Garroa’s beach are all great for seafood, live music, laid-back atmospheres and sunsets. You can find more live music and plenty of great nights out at Quinta Shopping Plaza. Choose from a British pub, Irish bar, fabulous restaurants and late-night shopping.
See you again next year!
It’s hard to know the number-one reason for people loving holidays to the Algarve so much. Maybe it’s the wall-to-wall sunshine throughout the summer. It could be the beautiful beaches, iconic sandstone cliffs, or delicious seafood, served in beachside restaurants. Is it the golf? One thing’s for certain, you can’t fit everything into one Vale De Garrao holiday, so you’ll just have to come back next year!
