Purpose-built for fun
Almerimar is the sunniest town in Andalucia, a province in the South of Spain. It’s a modern resort, specifically designed with holidaymakers in mind. This means you’ll find everything you want for the perfect trip. There’s lots of luxury villas and hotels, a contemporary marina and a pristine promenade with spectacular ocean views, both lined with tapas restaurants and ice cream bars.
There are two beaches on either side of the marina, and there’s also a nearby nature reserve, renowned for its scenic beauty. You’ll find all sorts of activities on offer on Almerimar holidays, from golfing to adrenaline-packed water sports.
Beaches with the wow factor
Almerimar holidays are centred around the town’s two fabulous beaches, which make up an eight mile stretch of stunning golden sand. Poniente Beach spans the length of the town, a broad curved bay leading down to the turquoise ocean. There are sun-loungers and parasols to rent as well as beach bars where you can grab a drink. Despite all these handy amenities, the beach never feels too crowded.
Poniente Beach is also perfect for water sports. Have a go at kayaking or paddle-boarding. Try your hand at windsurfing, banana boating, and even jetskiing. Even the most active people will be kept on their toes by all the activities on offer.
Meanwhile, Levante Beach is on the other side of the marina. The oceanfront promenade runs alongside it – a fantastic spot for a sunset stroll. This stunning beach leads all the way to the Puntas Entinas-Sabinar Nature Park, a biodiverse coastal wetlands area.
Outdoor Activities
There’s so much to see and do on holidays to Almerimar. Golfers will love the expansive 27-hole golf course on the outskirts of town. If golf isn’t your thing, enjoy beach volleyball, fishing, and boat trips down the coast.
Keen hikers will be pleased to know that Andalucia’s Sierra Nevada is only a 90-minutes drive away. These dramatic mountains offer fantastic views of the surrounding area. If you want to stay closer to the resort, take the short drive to Puntas Entinas-Sabinar Nature Park which is bisected by hiking and biking trails.
Global cuisine and upbeat bars
You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to dining. Almerimar boasts everything from pubs to pizzerias, and even an Indian restaurant. Head to La Plaza Tapas & Cocktails for sharing plates such as marinated sardines, potatoes with spicy mojo picon sauce and goat cheese with courgette and honey.
There are several fantastic nightlife options ranging from low key pubs to upbeat clubs. One of the most highly rated drinking holes in the area is Stumble Inn. It’s a pub on the marina with a friendly atmosphere and a big food and drinks menu. Another popular spot is Aloha Almerimar, a tropical-themed bar on the beach. Watch the sunset, sip some cocktails, and then party into the night.
Head to Roquetas del Mar
If you want to explore further afield, drive 35 minutes along the coast to Roquetas de Mar. It has a quaint marina and an imposing Moorish castle that’s hundreds of years old. This is a great place for trying local tapas and buying souvenirs.
Kids will love the aquarium where you can see turtles and iridescent fish. There’s also the Mariopark, a fun waterpark with a wave pool and fast slides. There are some fantastic beaches here too, so you can head to the ocean for a dip after you’ve been sightseeing.
Holidays in Almerimar, Spain’s sunniest seaside resort, are appealing to everyone. You can’t help but be impressed by the gorgeous beaches in the area, as well as all the activities on offer. You’ll be able to spend days on the beach, enjoy sunset strolls on the promenade followed by leisurely tapas dinners. What’s not to like about a town that has been purpose-built for fun?
