Grindelwald Holidays 2025/2026

A place that sounds magical by name, Grindelwald is one of Switzerland’s largest and most popular ski resorts, residing in the Bernese Alps. But there’s so much more on offer here than simply the slopes – and that’s largely due to the fact the village lies surrounded by a majestic mountainscape so stunning you can barely believe your own eyes. It’s no surprise it’s been the filming location for movie franchises like Star Wars and James Bond. Sitting underneath the infamous North Face of Eiger, this monumental rock face makes for an inspirational backdrop – whether you’re at the foot of it or climbing its peak.

Action-packed adventure at every turn

Experience everything Grindelwald has to offer with an enormous array of activities just waiting to tempt you in.

If you love nothing more than a stroll through the countryside, then Grindelwald’s trails will blow you away. One of the most popular is The Royal Walk, a trail rewarding you with views of a trio of mountains – Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. You’ll feel like a true king or queen when you reach the giant crown at the top – it’s the perfect spot for a selfie.

Or zoom along with jaw-dropping views of the entire valley on the Pfingstegg Tobaggan ride. At over 730 metres long, and with a total drop of 58m, this ride can have you reaching speeds of up to 25mph!

And it’s no secret that Grindelwald holidays were built for skiing in the winter, with slopes for all experience levels. If you don’t ski, you can still enjoy the snow by sledding or snowshoeing instead!

Transport to take it easy

Getting around Grindelwald isn’t anything like the journeys you’d take at home – oh no, getting from A to B is a lot more exciting in Switzerland.

Make your way to the top of Männlichen mountain with a ride on the cable car from Grindelwald’s Grund station, taking you up 1,300 metres high to the peak.

It’s the third longest gondola cableway in the world, with a journey time of 30 minutes – giving you plenty of time to sit back and bask in out-of-this-world views.

Another once-in-a-lifetime experience awaits with the journey to Jungfraujoch – taking the train from Grindelwald Grund, you’ll change at Kleine Scheidegg for the highest railway in the world. Before long you’ll be at the Jungfraujoch saddle, 3,454 metres up, marvelling at glaciers and in the spot known as ‘the top of Europe’.

Taste your way around

The stunning sights around you aren’t the only way to please the senses – Grindelwald is the perfect place to get stuck into a variety of traditional Swiss cuisine.

If you love your cheese then you simply won’t be able to pass up a fondue for lunch or dinner – we’re talking gooey, melted Swiss cheese with chunks of delicious, fresh bread to dip in. Those with a sweet tooth will be most pleased when a matching chocolate fondue is served for dessert. Get ready to tuck in!
