Me and my husband have just returned from a lovely week at the Pineda Park apartments in La Pineda, Costa Dorada with our 8 month old son, Thomas. It was the first time we had been on holiday since Thomas was born, and we were both really looking forward to our first week away together as a brand new family! We got an amazing late deal on the holiday, as we booked just a week before we flew out. It wasn’t stressful either as we were prepared to travel before we booked.
On arrival we were pleasantly surprised by how nice our apartments were. It was quite big and clean (especially thankful for this as we had Thomas with us!) and was well equipped for a self catering holiday. The balcony was huge too. The maids cleaned our room 6 of the 7 days we stayed and our towels were replaced every other day. All of the hotel staff are really helpful and friendly. The pool area was really nice and there is a small, shallow pool for children. It was lovely being able to dabble Thomas’s feet into the water and watch him giggle.
Portaventura
We found the resort to be pretty low key, but in all honesty it perfectly suited us. We knew we couldn’t go out for long periods of time because of the sun and our little boy. We tended to just take the pram out and about, seeing as though the area was flat enough. It was lovely during the day to just wander around and take in the resort’s relaxed atmosphere. The beach is only 5 minutes from our apartments and is really clean. I think it would be safe for children to play on. The beach is bordered by a lovely long promenade. It was perfect for wandering along to get Thomas to sleep. On an evening we ate in the restaurants around the resort and found the cuisine to be really diverse. The Admiral Bar attached to the apartments is a great place to eat.
After our meals we always headed back to the apartments for the evening entertainment they put on. It was surprisingly good.
The apartments are in very close proximity to Portaventura Theme Park so we will definitely go back when Thomas is old enough for the rides. We had a really enjoyable week in La Pineda and wouldn’t hesitate in going back tomorrow, if we had the chance that is!
