No matter how much we may love our job, everyone looks forward to their annual leave, especially when it means doing your favourite thing like relaxing with your family or going on holiday!
Did you know, you can maximise your time off in 2022 and have an amazing 54 days of holiday but only need to take 22 days of annual leave? Here’s how you do it!
Thanks to the Queen being on the throne for 70 years, we all get an extra day’s bank holiday in 2022, meaning nine ‘free’ holidays – how exciting! Bank holidays are central to this sneaky but genius plan, so let’s take a look month by month at what you should book in order to get the best year of holidays!
January
2022’s first bank holiday is on Monday 3rd Jan since New Year is on a Saturday. So, if you take the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th Jan as annual leave, you will actually get 7 days off, including the weekends.
This is a great way to extend your time off following Christmas festivities and enjoy some extra family time, or peace and quiet if that’s what you need! You can also bag some bargain getaways at this time of year and a holiday would be an AMAZING Christmas present for your other half…if we do say so ourselves!
April
Easter bank holidays are always something to look forward to thanks to the four day weekend but, did you know, by adding four days annual leave you can get a whopping ten days out of the office?
By taking 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd (Tuesday – Friday after Easter Monday) you can enjoy ten days of chill time and tucking into your Easter eggs. If you fancy taking the kids on a break, check out our fab ‘free child place’ deals for the Easter hols.
May/June
May’s first bank holiday is on the 2nd, so taking the next four days (3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th) as annual leave will give you a juicy nine days off. But, May’s holidays don’t stop there!
The late May bank holiday has been pushed to Thursday 2nd June to come before the extra bank holiday on the 3rd for the Queen’s jubilee celebrations. If you book the 30th and 31st May plus 1st June off, you can make the most of another nine day vacay for only three days annual leave!
May is often the start of the tourist season for many summer holiday destinations so you can be sure to get yourself away on a toasty break if that’s what you fancy.
August/September
August is often a favourite month for a summer getaway for families thanks to schools’ summer holidays. Temperatures in many destinations are at a high in August too meaning you can enjoy topping up your tan in toasty, sunny rays.
August’s bank holiday falls at the end of the month, on Monday 29th, so to make the most of your time off around it, taking 30th and 31st August plus 1st and 2nd September will give you nine days off, including weekends, to squeeze in a fabulous family break.
December
December – some would say the most wonderful time of the year! With so much to look forward to, and so much to prepare for the upcoming festivities, time off in December feels like a must.
Three bank holidays are squeezed in throughout the festive period – Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. 25th December 2022 falls on a Sunday meaning the bank holiday is delayed until Tuesday 27th December, following Boxing Day. By taking 28th, 29th and 30th as annual leave, you can relax knowing your out of office will be set until Tuesday 3rd Jan 2023!
