I went with my boyfriend Michael to Corralejo, Fuerteventura in March. We wanted plenty to do in the evening after a hard day’s sun bathing so we picked the busiest resort on the island. The resort is beautiful. It was once a former fishing village and the remains of this can still be seen today. The beach is gorgeous and its sand dunes are a protected nature reserve.
The harbour area is lovely and has fantastic views. The main street has loads of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants so there was plenty for us to do in the evening. The plaza is a nice place to head to as it’s got a selection of restaurants under one roof and the choice of food is immense. McCarthy Irish bar and O’Grady’s were great and the staff were very friendly. The nightlife was brill and there’s so much to see and do during the day. We went to the Baku Euro Theme and Water Park which I think is a fantastic day out! The water slides and wave machines are a great way to cool down! There are loads of water sports along the beaches. Windsurfing was extremely popular so we both decided to give it a go. Well Michael was a natural while I just could not get the hang of it so I just stuck to sunbathing. There are two markets a week in the resort. Most stalls do sell the usual tourist tat but there was a really nice one selling jewellery where I managed to haggle for a beautiful bracelet. We stayed at the Oasis Papagayo hotel on a self catering basis and to be honest, it more than fulfilled our needs. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Corralejo to anyone looking for a fun-filled holiday with plenty of evening entertainment.
