The Canary Islands has been a much loved destination by Brits for many years and it’s not hard to see why. With stunning sandy beaches, plenty of daytime activities like shopping and sightseeing, and bustling nightlife, you won’t be disappointed by these vibrant islands. Whether you’re seeking a relaxing retreat or an action-packed getaway, the Canary Islands offer something for everyone.
What makes this destination even more appealing are the incredible all-inclusive hotels that take the stress out of holiday planning. From endless buffets of international cuisine to luxurious pools and entertainment for all ages, these resorts ensure you can truly unwind and focus on making memories. In this guide, we’ll explore some of the best all inclusive hotels across Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura, helping you find the perfect base for your dream holiday.
Tenerife
In Tenerife, there’s a whole host of all inclusive hotels to choose from, making whittling it down super hard! But our top choice is the TUI SUNEO Tamaimo Tropical. Incredibly well located, being 500m or less from the resort centre, beach, bus stop and numerous bars and restaurants, days away from the TUI SUNEO Tamaimo Tropical are easy to organise and enjoy, but with excellent amenities, it is hard to wave goodbye to the complex.
One of the best perks of an all inclusive hotel is of course the food and drink, and there’s plenty to get stuck into here. The WorldCuisine buffet has show-cooking stations dishing up global cuisine. Of course, buffet restaurants provide a fantastic range of food, from meats to salad bars, crowd pleasers like spaghetti bolognese and not to mention plenty of desserts. There’s also another on-site restaurant called Morrocollo. Italian food is the theme at this restaurant, and it’s part of your All Inclusive package. Just so you know, you’ll need to reserve a table if you’d like to eat here.
Elsewhere in the hotel, there’s lots to keep the whole family busy. There are three pools to splash between outside. Kids get their own pools, too, and there’s a waterside bar that deals out drinks and snacks. You can enjoy daytime activities like water polo and volleyball, and little ones can burn off some steam in the SuneoPlay area, which is air conditioned.
If you want to head out of the hotel and explore your surroundings, it’s around 200m to the closest shops, bars and restaurants. 500m away is a small beach at Puerto Santiago, and the resort centre is the same distance. For a bit more of a bustling town, you can head to Playa de la Arena, which is 2km away.
Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria is another one of the beautiful Canary Islands, with plenty of resorts that offer different vibes, depending on the type of holiday you’re looking for. Meloneras offers a touch of luxury, Playa del Ingles has a great, inclusive party scene, and Puerto Rico has plenty to do for families. To ensure your all inclusive holiday to Gran Canaria is the best it can be, our hotel choice would be the RIU Vistamar.
This clifftop hotel is so beautiful you won’t want to leave, but if you fancy a stroll then the beach is around a 30 minute walk away. A little closer to the hotel you’ll find some shops, bars and restaurants, if you’re not too bothered about feeling the sand between your toes. If you’re hoping for a swim, then the hotel has everything you need. There’s two main pools, both with a bar nearby – the one on the lower level is a large pool which hosts activities. Both these, and the separate children’s pools, are heated in winter.
The buffet restaurant comes with show cooking and a special section for healthy eaters. Local cuisine is showcased by the Canarian potatoes served with red or green mojo sauce, depending how fiery you like things. With two themed evenings a week, the buffet restaurant serves up a variety of dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There’s also an on-site Asian restaurant, which you must book if you’d like to visit. This place is open for your evening meal. There’s also a themed restaurant, which alternates its evening cuisine between Canarian and grilled meals – reservations are required here too. This place also doubles up as a snack bar.
On the activity front, a multi-sports court lines up mini-football and basketball, plus there’s a little playground next to the children’s pool for younger guests. The lounge bar is the place to go for entertainment. There’s a real mix of tribute bands, shows and salsa dancers. You’ll get the chance to experience the fabulous RIU entertainment programme here, organised by external and RIU entertainers, you’ll find a variety of entertainment on offer in the evenings.
Lanzarote
Lanzarote is the Canary Island to go to when you’re after a touch of exploration with your holiday. Head here for breathtaking views, and memory making hikes. If you’re heading on a holiday to Lanzarote for the views, then the Rio Playa Blanca Hotel is the place to be. The hotel serves up stellar panoramas out to sea and on a clear day you’ll even be able to catch a glimpse of Lobos and Fuerteventura! The hotel is close to Playa Flamingo beach, as well as shops, bars and restaurants at the harbour.
Tuck in to breakfast, lunch and dinner in the main restaurant. The buffet selection includes international eats, alongside a few local specialities. You can watch the chefs at work at show-cooking stations every evening. There are two themed restaurants here, American and Italian, and you can choose to dine at one of these during your stay. If you get peckish during the day, pop over to the pool bar for a snack. The terrace bar’s open in the evening for drinks, too.
Little ones will be kept busy at this place – there’s a roster of day-to-night activities, plus the hotel’s TUI KIDS’ CLUB offers sessions five days a week from May to October. There’s an Aerial Adventure course to go for, plus a football academy in July and August subject to availability – both of which are provided by the hotel-run kids’ club at peak times only. Some activities at the hotel are subject to an extra charge, so make sure to check with the hotel.
The lagoon-style pool is a decent size and it’s lined with sunbeds and thatched parasols. You won’t have to go too far for a drink either, as there’s a bar nearby. The kids’ are well catered for too – they can enjoy their own pool and splash park here. If you prefer a quieter spot to relax, or would like to enjoy a relaxing swim, the hotel also has a quiet pool for you to enjoy. If you need to hire a pool towel during your stay to reduce your luggage, then you can hire one from the hotel for a deposit of €15 per towel.
Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura is an interesting island, and maybe one of the less popular Canary Islands, but it’s definitely worth a visit. It’s the closest Canary Island to Africa, so expect year-round sun and over 150 stunning sand beaches. But despite its great amenities, it’s still remarkably unspoilt, with two national parks of rolling sand dunes, soaring mountains and pristine coastline. If you’re looking for a family-friendly base to explore from, take a look at TUI Magic Life Fuerteventura.
Finding something to eat here won’t be hard, the hard part will be making a decision as there’s so much to choose from! The five restaurants include a varied buffet, and three specialty restaurants where you can dine once per week as part of your All Inclusive, plus another you can pay to visit. At the buffet, you can upgrade your breakfast game with things like smoked salmon and glasses of fizz.
