In early December we stayed at the Tamaimo Tropical in Puerto de Santiago, Tenerife. Having read a lot of reviews we were slightly concerned that this property would be a little too quiet during the winter. It actually turned out to be ideal for us. We certainly didn’t have to queue for seats in the restaurants or for sun loungers on a morning, the place wasn’t deserted and its atmosphere didn’t seem subdued, despite it not buzzing with families and children. Would definitely recommend this property for a quiet winter holiday. The weather was a welcome change to the harsh British winter with temperatures topping 24oC.
Previously on holiday we’ve been bothered by pigeons waking us up early on a morning and making a mess of our balcony, but we hardly saw any here at all. Even the cockroaches stayed away. Tenerife is well known for cockroaches though so if you don’t like them…don’t go!
We went for a wander out a couple of evenings and although it may be a little too hilly for some people we were fine and the views were terrific. We didn’t really use the beach as we are not sand lovers and know that in Tenerife that the sand is black and coarse – not attractive at all. We had a fabulous relaxing week, we found the staff helpful and friendly and although the food was far from brilliant, it was adequate and to be honest a week away from the cooker and kitchen sink is enough to make any meal seem a little more special!
