1. Parc Güell, Barcelona

Parc Güell is a stunning part of the city that combines green parks with fascinating architecture, and it also just so happens to boast amazing panoramic views over Barcelona. We would advise you to double check the park’s opening times for the time of year you’re visiting, and we’d also note that you need admission tickets to visit the park. Take it from us though – it’s worth it for that sensational sunset view!

2. Cafe Mambo, Ibiza

There’s no place like Ibiza for a party at sunset, and no place in Ibiza quite like Cafe Mambo! You can expect chilled beats and flowing drinks among a crowd of lively holiday-makers at this iconic sunset hotspot. In fact, watching the sunset here is at the top of many a party-goers bucket list. The atmosphere is second to none and the views over the magical Mediterranean Sea are breathtaking. You may want to get down early for a good spot – it’s very popular most nights of the summer season.

3. Santorini, Greece

Sophisticated wine bars, white cliffside houses and gorgeous volcanic beaches are just a few of the things Santorini is known and loved for. There’s no wonder its scenes are splashed across so many postcard and catalogue covers – it’s simply stunning. What better place to enjoy a spectacular sunset? The sinking sun is reflected in the Med to give off the most striking views, just perfect for a romantic evening with someone special. 4. Seljalandsfoss, Iceland

This next destination is a total contrast to the shores of Santorini, but it’s equally beautiful and the most incredible place to watch the sunset. Seljalandsfoss, a picturesque waterfall in Iceland, will make you feel like you’ve been whisked away to a scene from a fantasy film. The tumbling waters are 200ft tall and they twinkle in the most beautiful colours when they’re lit up by the setting sun. Watching the sunset here is a truly unique experience. Don’t forget your camera – it’s certainly one for the memory book!

5. Capri, Italy

Capri encapsulates everything we love about Italy – colourful scenery, dramatic landscapes and divine food and drink. When you add stunning sunsets into the mix, you’ve got all the elements of a perfect, relaxing escape. One of our favourite places on the island to watch the sun sink down to the sea is at the Punta Carena Lighthouse. There’s a bar here overlooking a small harbour, so you can enjoy a cocktail or two with the most scenic and vibrant views of the sunset. Perfection!

6. Mount Teide, Tenerife

This next sunset quite literally takes you to new heights! Mount Teide, the highest mountain in Spain, gives unbelievable views as the day turns to dusk. Don’t be intimidated by the size of the climb though – there are many tours available that will drive you to the perfect viewpoint just in time for the main event. We’d recommend checking out TUI’s Teide By Night tour. You’ll not only see a dramatic sunset, but you’ll be able to marvel at the night skies with a professional stargazing guide once darkness falls. It’s an experience you’ll never forget on your Tenerife holiday!

7. Dubrovnik, Croatia

A hanging sunset combined with the twinkly lights of the city make Dubrovnik one of the prettiest places in the world at nightfall. One of the best views, we would say, is from Mt Srđ. After taking a short cable car ride to the hilltop, you’ll see right over the terracotta roofs of the Old Town and to the sparkling Adriatic Sea beyond. It’s the ideal place to share a glass of wine with a loved one and soak in the beauty of Dubrovnik as a pink, glowy haze drops over the city. Evening views don’t get much more beautiful than this!

8. Lisbon, Portugal

Another stunning city at night is lovely Lisbon. On a warm evening in the Portuguese capital, we’d recommend heading up to the Miradouro da Senhora do Monte viewpoint to see Lisbon illuminated by a dazzling sunset. It’s one of the most famous landmarks owing to its sprawling views over the city and out towards the ocean. Once you’ve enjoyed a vibrant sunset display and the night’s fallen dark, there are endless quirky bars and clubs where you can enjoy a few drinks and dance the night away. What more could you need?

9. Aphrodite’s Rock, Cyprus

Aphrodite was the goddess associated with love and beauty, so as you can imagine, this sunset spot is a particularly romantic one. The famous Aphrodite’s Rock in the Paphos region of Cyprus treats visitors to wonderful views of the sun descending over the Med – it’s no wonder it’s such a popular tourist spot. There are myths that say if you swim around the rock three times, you will find true love or eternal beauty, so you could always have a quick dip whilst you’re there if you’re feeling superstitious!

10. Cala Tarida, Ibiza

Our final sunset takes us back to the soft shores of Ibiza, but to a slightly quieter area than the famous Cafe Mambo. The beautiful bay at Cala Tarida is peaceful and calm – the perfect setting for a cosy night with a loved one. You’ll be able to watch gleaming sunsets from one of many charming bars and restaurants that line the beach, or you could even opt to take a boat trip out onto the sea at twilight to make your evening extra special. Wherever you settle for sunset, you’re in for a treat in this tranquil corner of Spain’s most-loved party island.
