Heard about the All Inclusive rules in Spain? Here’s why there’s no reason to panic…
There’s been plenty of talk in the media about these rules applying to All Inclusive guests holidaying in the Balearic Islands – particularly Majorca and Ibiza. Before you change your mind about visiting these beautiful Spanish islands, don’t forget to read the small print! Only a tiny area and a handful of hotels on the islands have been affected by the rules.
What Is The All Inclusive Rule In The Balearics?
The rule brought in by the regional government allows All Inclusive guests in selected areas of Majorca and Ibiza to have a maximum of six alcoholic drinks within their package per day. They can have three drinks with their lunchtime meal and three drinks with their evening meal, and will be able to purchase additional drinks should they wish.
The reason the new rules have been brought in is to combat unsavoury behaviour caused by excessive drinking in resorts such as Magaluf. The rules have also put a stop to things like cheap ‘happy hour’ offers, party boats and organised bar crawls that encourage over-consumption.
Where Do The New Balearic All Inclusive Rules Apply?
As word about the rules has spread, it’s all become a little unclear and people have assumed that all of the resorts on the islands are affected. In reality, it’s mainly the ‘party’ spots. Most of your well-loved holiday spots won’t be impacted but take a look below at the handful of resorts which ARE impacted by the rule.
Where the Majorca All Inclusive Rule Applies:
- Magaluf
- Playa de Palma
- El Arenal
Where the Ibiza All Inclusive Rule Applies:
- San Antonio
Whilst there are All Inclusive options available in these areas, people do tend to bar hop and explore the local restaurants a little more alongside Self Catering or Half Board packages. There are plenty more idyllic spots to have your relaxing All Inclusive getaway!
