It’s nearly that time of the year again, time to book your annual summer holiday, and we all know what that means – you get to update your wardrobe.

If you’re sick of your drab winter clothes and can’t wait to wear another colour apart from black, now’s your chance to shop your holiday look early as we round up the top trends to look out for this summer.

So, whether you’re heading to Ibiza for a long weekend or Mexico for a few weeks, these are the suitcase-worthy styles that you need to try.

Nightwear as daywear

We know this may sound like a strange trend, but we promise you nightwear as daywear is going to be huge. That’s right – those luxurious lace slip dresses and cotton pyjama sets, which you’ve only ever worn in the bedroom, will be making an appearance on the high street this year. But the best part is these light-weight garments will squeeze into almost any space, so if you’re trying to save as much suitcase space as possible this trend is definitely worth investing in.

Off-the-shoulder

We all know a holiday is the perfect excuse to show a little skin, and when we say skin we don’t mean your legs or even your stomach. Actually, the body part taking centre stage this year is your shoulders. From off-the-shoulder tops and cut-out shoulder dresses, this style is a great beach to bar look if you’re planning on staying out all day. But whatever you do, make sure you pack plenty of sun cream because dodgy tan lines are a big no-no with a shoulder showing top.

Next season netting

Whether it’s netting covering the entire body or just part of it, this trend seems to have taken the fashion world by storm this year. This translucent style has come a long way since its days on the basketball court, and it seems showing some skin without fully exposing your body is all part of the appeal. Forget kaftans and sarongs because net is the perfect beach throw-on, especially with its loose-fitting fabric.

Yes, if you haven’t heard already, orange is the hottest colour on the catwalk for 2016 – and we can’t get enough of it. Plus, it looks great against sun-kissed skin, so if you want to show off your holiday tan, we vote for orange every time.

Stripes are going to be everywhere this summer, and the good news is it doesn’t matter if you opt for wide, narrow, horizontal or curved because this trend is more about the colouring between the lines – the bolder the colour, the better!
