If you are looking to book your 2014 Summer holiday but unsure where to go, don’t worry. Here at Holiday Hypermarket we have put together a list of the hottest destinations for this year.
Mexico
Cancun has been high up in the popularity stakes for several years now. Well established, with high quality hotels and a buzzing resort centre, Cancun is still as popular as ever. However, if you want to experience a different side to Mexico with a more traditional flavour, 2014 could be the year that Puerto Vallarta on Mexico’s west coast really starts to challenge its Caribbean coast rival. Thanks to the new Dreamliner aircraft, you can book a direct flight from the UK and be sipping a tequila sunrise on the beach in under 13 hours.
Greece
Greece is featured in our 2014 predictions because it has been a firm favourite with Holiday Hypermarket customers year-after-year. The white-washed buildings and brochure-worthy scenery make islands such as Santorini and Kefalonia the perfect choice for those who like to blend some traditional culture with their sun, sea and sand holiday. Head for the busier islands of Rhodes or Corfu to add a bit more nightlife to the blend.
Crete’s split personality makes it an attractive proposition, having all the action to the east with a mellower feel along the west coast. Zante caters well for families, unless you head into Laganas where you get all the energy of Corfu’s young and lively scene on this popular Ionian island.
Turkey
Turkey is hitting the top of our charts for 2014. Marmaris is larger than your average resort with plenty to offer, with a busy resort centre that has a great nightlife and a relaxed beach scene. From the perfect bay in Olu Deniz to the ancient castle in Bodrum, Turkey is a mixed bag for UK tourists. It’s popularity is helped by the non-euro currency making it one of the cheapest destinations around.
Balearics
The Balearics are just a short flight from anywhere in the UK making it a hit for families and nervous flyers. Each island offers something different so pick wisely and you won’t be disappointed. While Ibiza deserves its ‘party capital’ crown it also offers stunning beaches, chic bars and wonderful hippy markets. Ibiza Town and San Antonio are the biggest resorts and home to the legendary clubbing scene.
Menorca is great for families with calm waters and gorgeous beaches, but it does liven up once the sun sets so don’t write it off as ‘just’ a family destination as there is so much more to this Spanish island. Majorca is popular with families, couples and groups alike thanks to the lively resorts of Magaluf and Palma Nova, the family resorts of Alcudia and Sa Coma and the relaxed and trendy resorts of Callas De Mallorca.
Croatia
Croatia is gaining some serious points in the popularity stake thanks to its hot summers, cheap cost of living and wide range of activities. From world famous music festivals to ancient historical sites, Croatia appeals to the masses but has – up to now – remained one of Europe’s best kept secrets. Book a Croatia holiday in 2014 and you can get in on the secret too.
