We visited Yugoslavia and thoroughly enjoyed it, but this was many years ago, as you could probably tell, so we decided to go again and see how much it has changed. This time we went to Croatia.
We stayed at the Valamar Club near Dubrovnik and once again had a wonderful time. We had requested a sea view room and were definitely not disappointed, it was such a treat waking up on a morning to such a beautiful scene. Although our room was quite small and basic it didn’t matter as we didn’t really spend much time in there. It was very clean, which is all that really mattered.
The pool was fantastic and there was a separate children’s pool. There was also a children’s play area and the animation team did a great job in entertaining adults and little ones alike. Even though it got quite busy around the pool, we always got a sunbed. The evening entertainment was really good and although some people complained it was a little too loud(?!) we thought it was great fun.
We heard people complaining about the all inclusive being a rip off as you were only allowed free drinks at meal times, however, when we booked the holiday it was actually advertised as “all inclusive light” and if you read the description properly it does tell you this so you cannot really complain about this when you get there. We booked on the Holiday Hypermarket website and this was stated in the all inclusive section, so we were fully aware of this before we went.
We’re not ones to sit and drink all day so only having free drinks with meals suited us anyway. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our return trip to Croatia after so many years and would return to the Valamar Club if I was ever to come back to Croatia again. Although a lot has changed, much for the better, this is still a great place to relax with plenty of activities going on too!
